I have not been able to go to the bathroom!

Gross subject, I know! But I have not been able to have a bowel movement since the night before surgery which was on Tuesday night (12/17), so 5 days. At what point do I worry about this? I was not allowed any foods at all on 12/17 (only liquids) or the day of the surgery which was 12/18 and I didn't get my first sip of Water until 12/19 and later that night I was given a chocolate Protein shake. Since that time I have been drinking 2 Protein shakes a day, plus water and about 1/4 cup of low fat yogurt.

I haven't been very gassy either and not peeing much.

Prune juice always does it for me Since surgery 12/23/2013 I have been taking 2 Colace per day, and am putting Benefiber in my beverages. Only once have I resorted to diluted prune juice. It' s all better since stopping the liquid Hydrocodone for post-op pain.

My Nut says no fruit juices forever I believe -- only fresh squeezed with no added sugars eventually

To clarify...my directions say "1/2 cup diluted unsweetened fruit juice (limit to one serving per day" When I took it, it did not cause a problem. No harm, no foul I guess.

I'm new to this site. Just had my surgery 12/30. I'm 5days postop and no BM. I have tried MOM without relief. I just took some miralax so we shall see. I'm urinating fine. I have only had liquids so i'm not surprised I don't need to have a BM.

You are Probably too early out to be concerned --I had the runs from day5-7 then regular poop a few days -- nothing for over a week, constipation for 4 days then finally after a few days on Colace capsules I got relief!!! Woohoo!!!!! I feel brand new (:

@Fiddleman: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! After weeks and weeks of really miserable constipation, I tried Natural Calm and it is gone! Normal, easy, and so less stressful/painful. I only use a heaping teaspoon every other night and it does the trick!

I'm going through it, too. I'm 8 daysb post op and haven't gone at all. I feel fine but can't comprehend no BM for such a long period of time. Took 2 doses of Miralax in the last 4 days but nothing. I also started Benefiber but nothing works. :-(

I'll check with my dr today. To quote a good friend's child, "Daddy I wanna go pooh!"
