Yup. I am 7 weeks out and am still fuzzy. It is a side effect of ketosis. My dietician told me that she has had patients so fogged they were not allowed to drive. I had to leave the hospital early at work because I could not safely care for my patient due to brain fog. Fortunately for me I had a few days to get more nutrition. My dietician said to avoid excessive brain fog I bead to eat no less than 50 carbs per day, and no less than 100g of carbs on days I am at work nursing.

Wow that explains how I've been feeling. Good to know! I'm only 1 week post op though.

It does get better as you are able to consume more foods. Hang in there.

Eating more carbs can certainly help alleviate the symptoms, but so can just giving your body a few more days to get over the sugar addiction. When we suddenly cut carbs so drastically, there is a withdrawal period for many of us. The data comparing the effects of sugar (carbs) with the effects of addictive drugs like cocaine are available to read with a little google search. Once you detox, the energy and clarity often come back with a vengeance without adding back unhealthy foods.

Not that I think all carbs are bad, but the ones that are causing this situation...the high glycemic carbs....yes they are bad, at least in the sense that they help make us fat, and most provide very little nutritional benefit.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
