whats your plan for complications?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently tried arranging aftercare with a local bariatric doc for after I have my vsg in Mexico. They flat out refuse to do any aftercare for anyone that had surgeries abroad. I have since heard this is common.

My question is, what is everyone else doing for aftercare? My biggest concern is I'll get home and have a big complication. This could bankrupt me if insurance doesn't cover it!

I was sleeved in Mexico on Sept 27, 2013. My pcp has agreed to do my routine blood work. I also did not find a barbaric doctor for aftercare. I live in Houston. I figured if I had a complication I would go to one of the major hospitals here that do bariatric surgeries and someone would take me.

My surgeon in Mexico also told me if I had a complication I would come back to his hospital and he would take care of it for me.

The surgery center I went to in Tijauna offered "piece of mind" insurance for six months to a year following surgery.

No one needs after care from a bariatric dr. Your PCP can provide everything you need for follow up. If you have serious complications that require a bariatric specialist the hospital will provide you with one. This happened to me twice with the band and I was cared by two of the highest ranking bariatric surgeon in the area.

By chance did insurance cover your band problems?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
