My surgery is Monday 8/17. HW 295, CW 255. Still 5'10"????. This thread is encouraging to see what size I might get down to at my goal weight. Started out at a very tight 22W, still wearing them but they are very loose. I can fit into a regular size 20 now.

Good luck to you! I started at a 20W, occasionally a 22W and am into a regular 18 (and they're starting to get loose!) at 7 weeks out. The surgery is absolutely worth it and has helped me actually feel confident that I can hit my goal weight!

I'm 6' and my current weight is 294. I'm just starting my journey. I have my online seminar and doctor consult scheduled. In my first month (of 3) of doctor monitored dieting and hoping to get my surgery before the end of this year. If I can, it will cost me nothing. If it goes into next year it will just cost my deductible.

I've been thinking a lot about where *I* want to be, weight wise. I love the before and after pics but find it hard to compare shorter pictures to my body type, so I'm happy I found this thread.

I would like to be at 175 and maintain that weight. I have 2 children and quite a bit of belly flab... I'm really hoping I won't have to have plastic surgery but it's not out of the question.

I'm so happy I found this group! A ton of inspiration is here for me, for sure!

In my 20s i felt best between 135-145 so i have set my goal to 145. My dr told me i may look like i did at 145 but weigh more because all these years of being obese has made my bones heavier, to carry all my weight. I want to be in a size 10-12, if i can do that at a weight higher than 145 i will be fine. I am 5' 8 1/2"

Largest size 22/24

I am 6' tall and am now a size 10. My doctor and I did set a goal of 180 so I started running the beginning of the year. I am completely fine with my size, I am just working on toning my body now. I am the happiest I have ever been with my health and feel great and that's what matters the most to me!

5'7"ish...starting weight 269. Goal weight 169 (was 170, but I wanted the 100!) Currently 163. Fitting between 12 and 14 Jean. But I look smaller (or so they tell me...) I don't want to lose more, but I am having a hard time remembering to eat, especially when stressed. What a change! Before, I binged when I was stressed!

Hello again - had my surgery on 8/17. Currently 233. I'm wearing size 18 now. I put all the 22's into a plastic bin so I can donate them. I just realized I have so many blouses/tops that I could wear a different one every day for at least a month. The 3X and 4X are being donated. Even though the 22 tops are big, I can still get away with them. I am definitely losing weight in my lower half faster than my upper half. I can hardly wait to be in a non plus size, but I"m sure it's coming.

rnsamantha thanks for the kind words. Hope you are continuing to do well on your journey.

I am hoping to be under 200 by New Years. 33 pounds...it's going to be tough work, but I'm up for it.

You can do it! I had my surgery 6/25/15 and weighed 259 on that day. As of today I'm sitting at 202 lbs. hoping to be under 200 lbs by Halloween. I'm into a size 14 now/size large on top. I am working out 5 days per week and find that has made a difference, because even though I've gotten down to 200 lbs before, I've never been this size. Love my sleeve!!

rnsamantha thanks for the vote of confidence. I know what I need to do and I NEED TO GET MOVING! I have no excuse. If I miss my goal of under 200 by 1/1 it will be because I am lazy. I haven't been a size 18 since high school and a size 14 in jr. high! Congratulations on your accomplishments they are totally motivating me.

I'm 5 ft 9 and am on my way down. My Dr says 160 but to be honest I want to go 185 and any lower is a bonus. I'm at 200 right now so we shall see. I think it's hard for us to see 150 or 160 as a goal because we are used to being bigger. It's in our heads that we cant. Before and after attached but please don't mind the filthy mirror. Lol

sleevemom43013 you look great! When did you have your surgery? Currently I am wearing a size 16...I haven't worn a size 16 since HIGH SCHOOL!

The last week or two have been a bit of a struggle. Had friends over last Sunday and they brought so many Desserts my head was spinning. I need to STAY AWAY from the carbs....they are not my friends. It's going to be hard with Thanksgiving, then my birthday, and Christmas. The holiday's are usually a time when dessert and appetizers are in abundance. My surgery was 8/17 and I'm in the weight loss phase, so I need to just say no.

Best of luck to everyone. Hope everyone is doing well. :D

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
