I am 5'9 my surgeon did not set a goal for me. I set my own at 150. I had several smaller goals along the way to re evaluate and I am now 147.6. I never thought it was doable either. My BMI is 21 something. Here is my after pic. I don't think I am boney.post-221807-14252074984303_thumb.jpg

So it is doable. But you have to do what you feel is best for you.

5' 11.5" and goal weight is 170. Haven't weighed that since High School! I don't even know how I'll look at that weight!

I am 5"11, and my doctor said my goal weight was 150~ !! I was a size 10 when I weighed 165, so as a large boned person, I cannot imagine being 150...too skinny. I'll be thrilled to be 175 again......with 165 being the lowest that I think will look decent without looking anorexic!!! See how you feel and look once you reach each milestone and go from there. Good luck!

I am 5'10" and my highest weight was 295. I started the process in April and was 290. I see the surgeon on Tuesday and hopefully I will get a surgery date after that. I am currently 269 after starting the pre- op diet. I had to lose 15lbs to qualify for the surgery. I've see the nutritionist twice, the NP, the psych doc (who was awesome - she said she thought I would do great), had the sleep apnea test, Echo and barium swallow. I'm so ready. I remember being about 215 in college and I thought I was huge....I wish I hadn't been so down on myself. Anyway I would love to be 165. That's my goal.

I have already made several lifestyle changes...no soda...no coffee. I'm drinking on average 100 oz of Water a day. I walk on my breaks at work. I'm 44 and I have two nieces and a nephew that I want to be around for and do more stuff with. One of my goals is to go zip-lining. I wouldn't dare at this weight but when I get closer to goal I'm doing it.

I'm 5'11 and my goal is 165. I know they say "shoot for healthy" but I'm young now and I wanna have the body to match! haha. That being said, I'm five days out and only down 3 pounds :(

Well I saw the surgeon, no date for surgery yet. I have to follow up with the sleep doctor and they don't have any openings until the end of July/early August. I won't get the appt until next Monday when they are back from vacation. I've waited this long, I'll just keep on working trying to chew 25x for each bite.

Everyone is doing so well! I am seeing the before/after pics on this thread and it's very encouraging so thank you all!

I am 5'9", 35 years old. SW was 291. CW is 248 at 8 weeks post op. I weighed 145 in High School... Wondering if that is just too low now. My dr said 175 would be a good goal weight. But I think I'll just have to find out and see. I have to remember that the number doesn't matter. It's how I feel and if I like the way I look. I'm so inspired by the rest of the "tall girl" stories. Gosh, I hope I can get to my goal!

I'd shoot for 175 and then see how you feel. It's been very hard for me to get below 200. That's a lot of weight to lose! It's a huge challenge! Take One day at a time. I have to always remind myself this is for forever.

I'm 5'9.5" and had my surgery 6/25/15. HW 278, SW 259, CW 226.4. My goal is 175lbs. If I lose anymore past that I will be thrilled, but I think at 175 I will still look and feel healthy. Right now my mini goal is to get under 200lbs. I haven't weighed less than 200lbs in my entire adult life and I'm 34 now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
