December 2013 Sleevers This Is Our Month Are Yall Ready!?

Recommended Posts

My date is New Year's Eve..... December 31st. I'm on my 2 week pre op diet now!!! I've cheated once. A Subway sandwich. I felt horrible afterwards. Plan on making it the rest of the way, no cheating. Definitely in need of support though. And to know I'm not the only one struggling. I'm nervous and excited!

I'm getting sleeved Dec. 31, too. I hate to post this, but my pre-op diet isn't as bad as everyone else's (thought still not easy). I have two weeks of vegetarian very low fat/low cal. eating (with Protein shakes) and a requirement to stop eating at midnight the night before the surgery.

I went to a Christmas dinner party last night and ate before I left. I had salad with non-fat dressing while everyone ate delicious looking food. I managed, but it was tough. For one thing, I was seated in front of the spiral sliced ham and I watched it sliced and served to each person! Also, they had my favorite dessert (pumpkin pie). I have two more of these dinners to get through (one at my house), but I know it will all be worth it. If nothing else, it is teaching me that I can socialize and enjoy company without lots of eating and drinking.

I had my last appointment with the surgeon yesterday and everything is good to go. I am mostly very excited, but hit periods of extreme nerves. I'm very much looking forward to being on the other side.

Good luck to all of the December sleevers, and especially those on Dec. 31!

How is everyone post op feeling? I was sleeved on the 18th and I'm still struggling with the pain as expected. Especially in the area where they took out my stomach. My suggestion is to use a pillow and hold it up against that area on your stomach when you go to get up from a laying or sitting position. It helps! I've been walking around the house in 10 to 15 min increments and that helps with the shoulder pain but the pain is still there. I am still on pain meds and anti nausea meds. I also have not weighed myself at all. Has anyone else not weighed their selves since coming home from the hospital? I've just been in so much pain that I can't be bothered with pulling out the scale and weighing myself. I am going to try and stick with weigh in's on Sunday's and Wednesday's for a few months and then cut that down to weigh in's once a week after that.

I hope everyone is doing well! and I can't wait till I start feeling better!!

Did anyone have to take a nicotine test prior to surgery? If so was it blood or urine?

Ree, I was sleeved on the 18th as well. Once I made it home on the 19th, I laid in the bed until last night. I had no desire to walk or move but once I had some Tylenol, I was able to get up and take a shower. Tylenol has been very helpful with the pain. I alternate between the Tylenol and Percocet. I was able to get out a bit today with my husband. I came home and took a nap. I plan to go out for a spell again tomorrow. Not overdoing it though.

Pain was tough for me for the first 5 days ... I'm 9 days out today

First night thought I was going to pass out due to excessive pain ... Thankfully I didn't

I'm now 2 days with no pain meds... Occasionally take the naseau and vomiting med but I haven't vomited -- incision pain hurts a bit but not taking anything for it

Drove for the first time today and feeling so so -- need more energy and nutrients

Unbearable pain gets better with time, hang in. There!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
