Unexplained restriction? possibly caffeine?

Recommended Posts

Nearly two months ago I got my first fill. I had little to no restiction. I was eating a lot less than I was prior to being banded, I had a couple of problem foods (bread and chicken) but for the most part I felt like I needed more restirction- so i have my second fill scheduled for thursday. I also wasn't drinking any caffeine (ever since I had to cut out diet coke). Last week it was freezing where I live so I had some tea and coffee (with caffeine). Since then in the morning I've been having 1 cup of coffee with caffeine. And now I have restriction. Is it possible that the caffeine has caused me to have restriction. Or is there another possible explanation as to why within the past week I've gained restriction?

Caffine could be the culprit...

you may want to re-schedule Thursday's fill for another week or more, just to see if this new restriction sticks around.

Many people gain restriction 4-6 weeks after a fill... so you may be one of those late 'bloomers'..

Regarding the caffine: Try not having any for a day or so and see if things 'loosen' up.

Not to get too personal, but is it that time of month? I know I get real restricted from about 3 days before until the day after it end.

Me too - at first i didn't notice anything different around my period - for the last 4 months or so i am so restricted i almost have to do liquids - very strange - never noticed caffeine did it for me and i had coffee before, during and after banding - can't give that up.

Caffeine is a diuretic, IOW you pee when you consume caffeine. Is it possible your restriction is due to that?

And to go along with that, if your are going to the bathroom a lot, restriction will also be tighter if your a little on the dehydrated side.

But, It could be that you are late bloomer!

Thank you for your feedback. And it's not that time of the month, either. It took me nearly a month to get this appointment and I hate to cancel.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
