Just got my fitbit flex delivered! So far I have no idea what I'm doing or if it's even on but my phone says it's 24 steps to the bathroom from the computer so far!! Lol

How much was the fitbit? You'll have to let me know how you like it. I've been thinking about getting one or something like it for a little while know. I just use my phone for now, but if it's in my purse or not on me it obviously doesn't track. It's a Samsing app, and pretty great, but I'd love something more accurate.

Well so far it's comfy on my wrist and I don't really notice it. So that's good, I am a little obsessed with it right now and I keep checking my phone to see what I've done .. Already walked half a mile not doing anything special!! And burned almost 700 calories just breathing and walking around house and store. Makes me feel less of a slug then I thought I was !! Oh and I paid 97$ on Amazon for the black one . The blue one is 99

SF you have had quite the stressful recovery with moving and having extreme nausea. Try not to be so hard on yourself. You're doing amazing! The true hunger is also a struggle for me. I'm at the point where I feel like I'm eating 20 times a day. That isn't true but I do feel true hunger about every 1.5-2 hours and am also on a ppi twice daily. Try to remind yourself that you're awesome and have done so well! You got this hun.

Aww, Jen, thank you for always being supportive :)

I'm trying. I know this is normal but still get a little discouraged. But... SJ and I have made a decision to not weigh til Saturdays.

Yup. Saturdays. We can do this. My wii fit just told me how impressed it was that I I haven't missed a day in 4 weeks. It's going to be unimpressed next week. Hahah

Good decision. My weigh in day is Fridays. Having only one weigh in day makes life easier. I still fall back into my scaleoholism from time to time. But it never helps. I have also been feeling days of total discouragement. But I know I did the right thing and am losing at a good pace.

I started working out with a trainer who has lots of experience with bariatric patients and is also a nutritionist. She has been really encouraging. My surgeon is actually a partner (with two other surgeons) in her new facility so my surgeon happened to stop by during my workout. It was actually kind of nice. I got to ask him a few questions that I forgot at my last appointment. So that worked out nicely.

Down to 194. It was a slow week but hopefully working with a trainer will help keep my weight loss consistent.

Hey everyone. I have par taken in a drink here and there. I used to drink whiskey and diet soda and had a pretty high tolerance to it. Not so much these days. While no soda for me. My dr is against it and not thrilled with the alcohol either so I met him halfway and had whiskey and Water. My tolerance is nothing so half a drink is all I can do.

I joined a gym today very excited about it. I have been pestering my dr to allow more than walking and light cardio and finally got it. First training session with trainer Tuesday.

So glad for this sight and all the suggestions and support there is from others going through this. Much success to all!

Are there any we are supposed to stay away from? I take Benadryl to help me sleep but I know that doesn't work for everyone.

Are natural sleep aids like melatonin okay? Sorry. I'm clearly not up on this subject. Lol.

I have no idea I never thought to ask my dr who is very conservative on taking anything other than Vitamins or my allowed meds.

I take benadryl regularly. I'm a night nurse and have trouble sleeping during the day sometimes. I've seen no side effects from it, but I also have not discussed it with my surgeon. Sorry I can't be more help!

Hey guys! I just signed up to be trained by a personal trainer 2 days a week! I'm so excited! He's worked with several bariatric patients and will personalize the workouts to my fitness level! I am curious about all of your nutrient recommendations from your surgeons. I've not been given a set calorie limit. Only 2oz servings and 70g Protein a day. What are your surgeons recommending?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
