Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I really wavered on whether or not I regretted this surgery the first month. I ripped internal scar tissue and was in an immense amount of pain for a long time. My surgery was 2/18/14 and liquid pain meds make me hurt and/or vomit if I don't eat with them. Even if it's just a pudding. They are too harsh on new tummies.

Keep in mind, we feel a range of depressive emotions Bc we are releasing copious amount of estrogen right now, which is stored in fat. As we lose weight it releases.

It's tough. But I can honestly say I'd go through it all again the same way, except I'd have taken better care of myself and not ripped my internal scar tissue. Lol

Hang in there. It really does get better.

I am very new to the site and hoping that I am doing this post correctly.

I was sleeved on 2/27 and I have been so depressed and regretting it ever since. I was originally told I could go back to work after 10 days, but the Dr wouldn't sign off because I had ripped an internal stitch, so I was out for a month. People at work are constantly watching what and how much I eat like I am an animal at the zoo. I can't eat more than 2 ounces at a time, i have to use a stop watch because I eat too fast, even though I never feel hungry I shovel food in! I can not stand any Protein Shakes. I am over it. And then 10 days ago I ended up in the ER with 5 kidney stones and my urologist wants to do surgery. 2 surgeries in 2 months scares the hell out of me. I was prescribed vicodin for the stones and I vomit every time I have to take it. I am out of sick and vacation time. I have no energy. My 13 year old daughter cried to me today that she thinks I am going to die because of WLS. I am just struggling looking at the big picture. That hopefully I will be healthier in the long run and be around for my daughter and fiance. I guess I just needed to vent. I am grateful for the weight loss so far. I have a pseudotumor cerebri and I have not had one headache since 1 week post op. So I know there is positive changes already. My presurgery weight was 296, day or surgery was 284 and I am 244 today. I am really glad I found this site so I know there are others out there that struggle as well.

Molly,

for your pain could you handle crushed pills? I had to take crushed Percocet in a shot glass of Water post op because the liquid pain meds make me so sick.

My sister-in-law has pseudotumor cerebri. That's tough. I can't imagine having pain and feeling sick all the time. I think weight loss is supposed to help that, right? I know that doesn't mean surgery instantly fixed it.

Please keep us updated. We are a very supportive group. I'm not on as much as I used to be but I will be on from time to time. Good luck.

Jen

In my second stall-blah. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get out of the stall? I have not lost anything in 9 days. I also see comments on the site about slider foods can anyone offer insight as to what they are so I can avoid them? I finally had some Pasta and rice and surprising enough did not upset my stomach at all just made me full faster even with the little amount I had. Not something I will so often but wanted to see if I could. Getting my Protein in but still struggling with Fluid intake. 2 months out and 50 lbs down. I have a long ways to go but my goals are 15-20 lbs a month. Stalls are not helping :(

To get out of my stall I cut all carbs and upped my calories to 800-900 a day.

The urologist originally gave me liquid, then switched to vicodin pills and I crush them. I was on Percocet after my sleeve, so I think maybe I am just sensitive to the Vicodin. I feel like my emotions are all over the place. I am happy that I had the surgery done, but I really don't seem to be taking in anything more than a couple bites. I am trying to stay out of self-pity and be grateful that the surgery is working and I have not had any headaches in over a month. The kidney stones are kicking my butt though. Thanks for the reply!

Forgot to tell y'all, I made mini turkey meatloaves in the muffin pan. Delicious. About 2 ounces each and I just pop in the microwave for about 30 seconds and am in meatloaf heaven...

Recipe?? :)

I just add ground turkey, one egg, chopped onions, grated cheddar and a half a sleeve of crushed crackers. I was out of Tomato sauce so so I used a bit of ketchup on top. They are about 75 calories each. 13g Protein

I found these at costco today. They're tasty and high Protein low carb. The only downside is they're pretty up there in sodium.

Love the sound of this. Next time I go shopping I will have to pick up some ground turkey and gluten free bread crumbs so hubs can have then too!

I agree with SF. I broke both my stalls but cutting carbs and upping calories. Throw an extra shake in your day or an extra serving of low sodium deli meats. I find more avocado in my diet now. I hit about 1000 calories a day and have come out of my stall and have lost 2-3 pounds a week since. I'm down to 195 now so I'm not surprised my weight loss has slowed. But it's been very steady the last two weeks.

Also keep up your Water intake. I'm back to getting over 100oz of water in and walk a minimum of two miles a day.

I hope you get out of your stall soon!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
