LadyQT--did you get a fill scheduled? they better strap you to the table or you might just roll off!!!

I am scheduled for my second fill on thursday. i am not sure if i will get it or not. i am steadily losing a couple pounds a week and i like the fact that i can still eat most anything. sometimes meat is a problem. but if i eat it mixed up with other stuff it goes down more easy.

Good evening Girls .

Thanks Lady. I know 4lbs isn't alot but its moving my ticker alittle. I know the lazy feeling. Its usually all I can do to get off the sofa after work. I have forced myself to walk the last 2 evenings. I really do feel so much better when I exercise, its just getting started thats the hard part.

Hey Sue, my dad taught me how to use power tools, so I think I can build us a bigger bench if we need it. WE ARE GETTING ON THAT BENCH!!!!! Any news yet about your paper work? I know its just been a few days, but sure do hope it goes quick for ya.

Debbie,

Good for you only having one piece of that cake :D. I have actually made a chocolate cake and eaten the entire thing by myself in less than 2 days just because it was there and I couldn't stop. I haven't done that in such a long time (thank God) but I have done it. I have always had issues with carby foods. Not so much super sweet, just cakes (no icing) and breads. I guess my days of stuffing myself with those things are almost over :nervous.

Hey Dorothy,

You haven't been around for a couple days...... everything going ok?

I'm going to take my mom to the Backwoods Fest in Thornville tomorrow. They have some of the coolest hand made crafts and MAN OH MAN do they have some really good food.... Soup Beans and corn bread, kettle corn, beef stew, and the list goes on & on. I am gonna need some strong will power and a few prayers to get through the day.

I hope you all have a blessed Friday :rainbow:

Hi Thinner,

I'm here. I have just been reading as many of the post that I can read.

I called Dr. Choban's office to find out if I could pay the $300.00 admin fee in payments and Pam set me up at $100.00 per month for 3 months. She said that I could not send in any paper work until I send the last payment but I can go ahead with the clearances that I need to have. I am working on that now. I am only in my 2nd month of dr supervised dieting. I have a ways to go yet but I know it will be worth it.

You ladies have a wonderful weekend. I will talk with you soon.

Hello Debbie, My appt. is Thurday also at 2:00p, however I am starting to re-think if I should get another fill, I am now down 31 pounds so I am losing, I should be happy with that:cry I guess, but I still think I should have restriction, and not be hungry like I am, but what do I know I'm a Rookie with this!!! So what does everyone think, To get a bigger fill or remain the same until I'm due for my schedule Fill? I just thought I should be losing more weight faster since my first fill.

Dr Choban says everyone is different. and after reading the other boards, you can see some people need 7 or 8 fills to get that "sweet spot"

it looks like you have lost 3 pounds since your fill, so things are still going in the right direction. but it shouldnt be a struggle.

my appt is at 2:15 on thursday, so we may run into each other!!

i had my first uncomfortable incident over the weekend. i overate. and it felt like it was gonna come up, but it didnt. then it passed. and then after awhile i drank a glass of Water and i must have drank it too fast because i got a bad stomach ache after that.

so lesson learned--no more overeating while out.

i am not breaking any records with my weight loss but i lose approx 2 pounds a week. i still had a lot of clothes that i couldnt fit in any more but once i get too small for them then i have to start buying a bunch of stuff. and i cant afford to do that!

I dragged out all the jeans i had stored away and couldnt fit it--12 pairs! and i know i have given away twice that many. wish i had them now.

OK now I am getting confused.:) I didn't know that you could decide when you needed a fill, I thought you just went in when you were scheduled.

Deb,you said it shouldn't be a struggle but I keep reading that the band is just a tool and you still have to really work at it to lose the weight.I am really praying that you are correct and it won't be a struggle because more and more I am afraid that I am not up to the task.:faint:

it hasnt been a struggle for me. in fact, it has been liberating. before my apetite ruled my life and food was constantly on my mind. most of my eating was caused by my head. i would wake up thinking about what i wanted to eat that day. on the way from work, i would think about what i would eat when i got home. once i got home i would attack the refrigerator and the kitchen cabinets like some starving refugee.

now when i get home i am content with a sugar free pudding or yogurt.

they are my best friends--because they are thick and take longer to pass thru.

Sue--dont worry, you can do it. i was the same way before i had it done. i thought i might be miserable because i would miss food or still want to eat even if i felt full.

i still have some issues. i still eat too fast. and i eat too much on the weekends. but the weight still keeps coming off-so i am not worried.

Well I think I've made up my mind....I am not going to get another fill I am just going to wait till my next 6 week appt. and ask her to at least give me a 2cc fill. I figured I am still losing and I am not hungry every day after all meals, I think one thing that I haven't been doing right is eating my protien first which takes the longest to digest, so that is what I am going to try. Like I haven't been hungry since like Thursday. Saturday I was in Cinninatti and I went to this nice Sea food place called Pappadoux and after my cousin order appetizers crab cakes, shrimp, and alligater I didn't order dinner they were all surprise, because I only ate a crab cake(yummy for your tummy :biggrin1:), a shrimp, and a couple bites of alligater. It was nice not ordering an entree I was so proud of myself cause the old me would have order a entree in a heart beat......Dang I think I started rumbling didn't I ladies.

Sue don't you worry I think it is how I was eating that made me hungry! I also need to get my Water intake up. Debbie how are you doing with that?

I am so Thankful for my Lap Band I am fitting in clothes that I could not wear before, I have ALOT of clothes (some with tags still on them:o) that I refused to give away when they "Shrunk":heh: I kept telling myself that one day I'll lose this weight and be back into them, and now I can look at them and honestly say that I will be wearing them again!! I'm on my way!!

Hey girls,

I have been so busy with work that I haven't posted for awhile. :ranger: I hope everyone had a great weekend.

My oldest grandson came to visit. He's 2 and the cutest little man that ever lived! He is starting to put 2 and 3 words together now. He said "Memaw, get cuppie NOW." Even though I thought he was being demanding I was so proud of him.

I thank God everyday for my babies (and I thank God that they get to go home to their mommas after a few hours )

Sue.... I am having all kinds of emotions. I am so afraid that I will be the one that loses like 10lbs in a year and then the weight loss stops. I'm worried that I wont know when I'm full, over eat and hurt my band. What If I fail again??? :cry

On the other hand, I am about to get a tool thats really gonna change my life forever. I'm not going to have to deal with that out of control feeling anymore. I struggled for years (early 20's) with bulimia, because I needed to "control" something.... now I can truly let that go.

We are going to be fine I just know it.

Debbie.... you really are an inspiration to me. You always have supportive words for us babies. :baby: Thanks!!

Lady....When we moved into our new house this past Jan. I gave all my "skinny" jeans to my DDIL. I wish now that I had kept some of them. I love to shop though, and LOVE getting a bargain. I go to Reynoldsburg about 2x a month and shop at Just Plus on Brice Rd. Its a consignment/thrift shop and they have sizes lg-7x. Last week I got a pair of Liz Claiborne jeans for $5.99. ;-)

BTW...how awesome for you not having to get an entree!! Look at the $ thats being saved!!

Dorothy,

How are ya doing?? I know the time seems to drag on when your in the "pre" phase. I feel like I have been waiting forever! I do see the end around the corner though.

I have another nutrition class tomorrow!!!! :clap2: 3 down 4 to go!!!!

thanks i needed that, i am a little down in the dumps. My BF and I have called it quits. actually he called it quits and i am recovering. We were together for 10 years. Now i have to find out who I am again. I wont say more about it because i could just go on and on and on about it. and i am trying real hard to just "stay in the moment" and not think about the past or the future. enough!!!

but anyway i went out the the Just Plus store on brice road.

I love it. I got a brand new black coat with leopard lining for $38. it is sexy!! another black belted coat for 20. a cute sweater with a jaunty, little matching cap--how cute is that!!

and a sharp shirt jacket in my favorite rust color. and another top. all in all i spent 101 dollars. i would have paid that much for just one new coat.

i love that they have shoes, too. because i have big, gargantuan feet and usually have to get shoes on the internet.

the owner is a real friendly guy and he asked where i heard about the store. i told him where and he was delighted.

oh well, it is time for me to go to work now.

see ya

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
