Sleeved On Monday. This Gas Is No Joke!

Recommended Posts

My wife had the sleeve done in January so we wanted to get them both done to claim on our taxes.

The surgery went great and recovery is happening faster than I thought. I can walk around with no issues without my wrap and have no pain...... Except for these gas pains.

Started at my belly then moved to my chest yesterday. Now it's in my left shoulder.

It moves to my butt sometimes but I can't pass the gas that direction for some reason. I sat on the toilet for a good while and only had 2 tiny toots.

I live 45 mins from any hospital so I asked to stay an extra night. I'm sitting up and walking which helps until I lay down then it comes back.

Any stretches or movements that might help?

There is gas and then there is gas. Burping and farting ARE your friends, because it shows that your GI tract is working. But the discomfort post surgery is not from GI gas. It's the residual from the gas used to "inflate" your abdominal cavity to make it easier for your surgeon to do his/her work laproscopically. It WILL be reabsorbed slowly -- the heating pad might help and so will walking.

"This too shall pass".

Kudos on the heating pad. It does help.

Also my wife thought up something that is helping a lot also. Baby's drink stuff called gripe Water which helps with colic and such. All it is is tea made with bay leaves. That helped a bunch and actually got me tooting again.

Kuyon now why didn't I think of that? I used that exact thing with my kids when they had gas pains as babies. Thx for the reminder!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
