Not in the way you'd think....I've always had a small issue with my sugar getting low periodically. I always wondered if I was mildly hypoglycemic. It happened every so often before surgery. Since surgery it didn't happen at all, then in the last two week it's happened 3 times. I get shaky and stuff and have to have something with a little sugar to bring it up. I'm not sure if it's something I should call the surgeons office about. Does anyone else have this issue?

Yes, it has happened to some that have posted here. Hopefully, someone who has will respond to your post. I would definitely talked with the Nut and also your surgeon if this continues to be an issue. I am a diabetic and even though I have had low numbers, it is because I had to re-adjust my insulin in on my pump.

It has been reported that for some people having RNY can actually cause them to get hypoglycemia. Can't remember the name for it but google it and I'm sure you will find the info. You should of course tell your surgeon because it falling too low can cause you to go into a coma and possible death ! Mine did that for the first 2 months post op. I didn't have high blood sugar before sugar, it was within normal range, however immediately following surgery... That same day it drop to 30 something, extremely dangerous that low and it lasted about 2 months post op then it finally straightened out.

I'm hypoglycemic. I have to have a bit of sugar at least every 3 hours or I get heart palpitations, cold sweats, dizziness, heart racing and will pass out. It's happened 4 times this summer and the last episode about 3 weeks ago. I hate the fact if I eat TOO much sugar then the same thing happens w/o the fainting. It's a fine line with this sugar intake. I make sure I carry with me at all times some fruit Snacks, a Protein bar and Water. Those are my lifesavers when I'm out and about and start feeling ill.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
