I need some advice. I'm on pureed foods right now. I'm having sooooo much trouble getting anything down smoothly outside of Water. My husband says I'm eating everything to fast (everything meaning the cream Soups I've tried and the sugar free pudding). When I eat these foods I get alot of stomach pains and air in my chest and throat. Its awful and sounds like there is a little monster trying to claw its way out. I feel like I'm eating slowly and I can't imagine how to slow it down anymore. Any thoughts? ........ cause this s%#t sucks!

I was sleeved 10/1. One of the struggles I had was forgetting you have to take small bites now. It's very easy to fall into bad habits if you don't focus on eating, you can forget you just took a mouthful of food and if you swallow a large amount that's gonna cause some pain. When you are eating focus on the act of eating it will help change old habits. Best wishes to you.

I went through that exact same thing for about the first 4 months. I was barely able to eat 3/4 can of cream of mushroom Soup a day for the 1st month. After that, I slowly progressed to "tougher" foods. My system for eating slowly was to take a bite, play a round of Bloons tower defense, take a bite, ... repeat.

I used a baby spoon, and put it down between bites. I also focused on food and did not have casual conversations at the table. I'm back to normal now, but in the beginning if I was talking I would get carried away and eat too large of a bite, or too fast. Also make sure you are not over eating. I did a can of cream of chicken Soup, with half a can of 2% milk, and that was 4 sometimes 5 meals for me in the beginning.

You could be having esophageal spasms. Are you not in contact wtih your doctor's office telling what you have told us.? Also make sure you thin your Soups down. Even a thick liquid can cause problems this early out.

Again, if you're experiencing pain, you should contact your docctor.

Thanks guys. I'm just so paranoid that I'm not cut out for this. I'm never hungry. I just eat because I know I'm supposed to and I guess I'm just inhaling it to get it over with. I'm sooooo scared I'm going to stretch my sleeve out. It's the only thing I think about while I chug LOL! Baby spoons. Good idea. I'll still definitely talk to my doc on Thursday at my first post op appt. Thanks again!

For the first three weeks or so, it took me about an hour to finish a yogurt or pudding cup.

Soups did go down easier, so I recommend those made with milk for some Protein. Or, since Water goes down okay, try just sipping milk all day long. Great Protein and it should go down nice and easy.

Definitely eat slow! I would have to reheat my Soup five times before I ever finished it! And try eating with a baby spoon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
