Has anyone had a hiatus hernia repair a long time after being sleeved ?

Recommended Posts

Hi, can anyone off any advice please ? When I had my sleeve done 2 years ago my surgeons were aware that I had a 2 cm hiatus hernia . They were also aware that I had had a burst stomach ulcer a year before. They didnt repair it at the same time as the sleeve. To cut a long story short , my controlled acid reflux pre surgery became uncontrolled after surgery . Ive had a gastroscopy and the hernia is now " large" . I'm going to have to have more surgery to repair it but I'm terrified. I had a terrible time getting sleeved...had a bleed post op , losing several pints of blood and it took me months to recover. Has anyone had a hiatus hernia repair a long time after their sleeve ? They want me to have a bypass ..Ive said "no" . Ive never wanted one but they're telling me its the "gold standard" procedure to relieve acid reflux associated with a sleeve. Ive still said no . I dont want one and whos to say the large hernia isnt the cause of the acid ? Any advice would be MASSIVELY appreciated ! Thank you everyone

I was sleeved 12/12/12 and on 10/16/13 I went to my surgeon because of abdominal pain. Turns out I developed a hiatal hernia. He pushed on it and said he "popped it back in place"...the pain is gone now.

The doctor discovered mine when I had my scope done. On my surgery day 16 days ago it was repaired along with being sleeved.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
