Thanksgiving ~ One week post-op

Recommended Posts

One week and one day after I am sleeved will be Thanksgiving. I will be on a pureed diet on that day. It's just my husband and I at home and I don't want him to suffer just because I have to eat pureed foods. What should we make, or buy beforehand, to make our lives easier? I was thinking one of those pre-made Thanksgiving dinners from the grocery store, but even that seems too large and too much work to reheat and carve, etc.

Turkey Breast, 1 can of green Beans and cream of mushroom (for green bean casserole), 2 potatoes to make mashed, jar of gravy, most grocery stores sell slices of cake and/or pumpkin pie.

Throw it together and call it a day. Easy Peazy

There is no need for him to suffer. He is a grown man. Tell him sweetly he must plan and prepare his own dinner this year. Next year we will go back to me cooking. I had surgery on Nov 28 last yr. I had the family Thanksgiving 2 weeks ahead of time and it was a joyous day as it would have been on Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving my husband took his mother out to eat and I stayed home alone on my liquid diet. I did not cook for weeks only prepared my own food. A grown man can take care of himself.

Just order him dinner from somewhere ...

As for you - I know at 1 wk post op I was having a tiny bit of cottage cheese or you could do a very thinned out purée of mashed potatoes

Thank you for posting this. Do you have examples like this for the other stages? It would help me if you could send to me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
