So, I'm cooking up some minced beef. Gonna make half chili and the other half a cottage pie. First meal I've cooked since surgery (apart from the family feast). Here's hoping I can eat some. Been existing on Protein Shakes and not much else. Not quite a whole pig, but it's a start.

So I'm on my way to shop for a bicycle. I don't even recognize myself. Love my sleeve. Me a year ago:

Love the new profile pic! Are you going to post a "me, today" pic as well?

Sounds yummy! I made a cottage pie with mashed cauliflower instead of the potatoes. Not bad. I hope you get to enjoy some.

What is a cottage pie?

Minced beef, fried up with onions (no added oil y'all!), mixed with a rich gravy and with a topping of mashed potato. Some (piggies) add grated cheese on the top. Bake it all in the oven, and there it is. I added some frozen spinach to try to get in some veg.

Thanks for responding...I'm back in Denver now with about 600 foils in my hair waiting to revert to a blond again.....deep sign of relief. Being on the road is good and bad. I love the work, but I get a little lonely. I do get 3 day weekends almost every week, so I'm sort of ruined for the real world. I was feeling fat, but realized it was my new pants and belt that felt a little tighter than the ones I bought a month ago. I was sure I hadn't lost any weight. My Friday routine is to wake, pee, strip, weigh....today down another 4 lbs... So that makes 50lbs since surgery! 59 total. My mind fucksED with me. Continually. I have a thinking disorder to go with the rest of my complex set of not so unique food issues. Thanksgiving on the beach sounds wonderful!!! We are doing Prime Rib this year. I'm not sure how I'm going to negotiate that. Lots of family and friends and food. I'm sure my usual week on the road is easier than holiday meals. In fact, now that I'm down to one Breakfast taco, sans the tortilla, and one beef taco (for lunch), without the tortilla again.. and greek yogurt from the hotel breakfast, eating on the road is much more sane and simple than before surgery when I ate it ALL, and was fucked in the brain the whole time. Weds was a bad day, maybe more tired or hormonal than usual. Good news is I'm home. I weigh less. I'm sure to be blonder in another half hour. I'm having Prime Rib for Thanksgiving. I have friends here on this forum who truly understand me.

Blond! I was always jealous of women with lighter hair because there is so much you can do. Go lighter and highlights. When you have black hair it's just black! I do have gray in it now and instead of dying it I enjoy it it's like my rendition of highlights :P

Isn't it a trip to go away and come back lighter??

We went away this summer and I ate!!

I was scared shitEDless when I came home...

But I was down? Weird!

Yes the beach is fun and it gives my little family unit time to bond and tell each other we are thankful for each other :)

Mmm. The chili went down well. But there is MASSES of it. There's easily enough to last me a month. Same with the cottage/shepherd's pie. Note to self - cook for a thin person instead of a fat one!!

Shepherds pie has lamb and cottage pie has beef. Otherwise they are the same.

GG, the profile pic only from a few weeks ago when we were in Melbourne.

I bought a bike and rode it 5 km home! I'm exhausted but proud. I got this one: http://m.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/globe/work/work-2-step-through

I had to get rid of my bigger cooking pots. I bought a very small crockpot and a 2 qt pressure cooker and even though they are tiny compared to the stuff from before, they still make too much food.

I have to cook half a lb of meat at a time. That makes us four servings (my husband is also sleeved). Alb of meat is way too much for us to cook at once. Similarly 2-3 chicken thighs at a time do the trick for us.

It's a really difficult adjustment.

i measure out portions of chili and put them in baggies. Squish flat and freeze. They thaw out fast and make an easy, quick meal. Since my sleeve, me and the freezer are good buddies. I freeze almost everything because I just can't eat it before it goes bad.

That's a brilliant idea! I'm sure I have baggies in the drawer...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
