Poll: How long did it take you to lose 100 lbs?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm a newbie (obviously). Just awaiting insurance approval and will schedule for sleeve surgery as soon as possible afterwards.

I know this is incredibly impossible to answer, as results vary depending on myriad factors such as metabolism, diet, age, gender, etc... But, I suppose I'm asking if all efforts are made textbook style (diet-wise), and no other health concerns were present (pre-menopause, no medications, etc), how long would it take on average to lose 100-120 lbs after surgery?

I know that it will eventually come off, but I'd like to take a poll of sorts. Please post your results

5'8

41

female

weigh 265

size 18-22 depending on maker

goal 145-150

goal size (totally unknown)

Thanks for playing!!!

Yes men put up very large numbers fast!

So women please don't compare to them :)

**** while I'm at it don't compare to anyone because 9 times out of ten it will only depress you..

I'm just trying to get an idea of whether it's possible to lose the weight in a year's time, longer than a year or shorter... Again, just an idea on average for those who have already lost 100 pounds.

It's a marathon, not a race. As you've already said, a lot of things are taken into consideration so why compare yourself with others?

It's just a poll, I'm not writing a thesis.

I think what Sonia was trying to say is that it's going to be what it's going to be and as a post op things are looked at differently.. Oh pre op! all the possibilities! Yes you can lose 100 in a year! Or less! But you also can lose a hundred and it might take you two.. And at no fault of your own. I will be a year in a couple of weeks. I have lost nowhere near a hundred yet. I wanted too! I've tried... I'm strict and exercise and eat right! But no 100 for me so I know I shouldn't be answering here because you wanted the people that did (sorry) The polls or comparisons when you are post op can be really depressing, because so many people will do "better" than you. I try not to (but I always do) read them because I'm painfully slow.. It's funny really because at the end of the day? I didn't lose a 100 yet. But if I had to be honest and I'm not in a place of comparing and depressing myself? I look (and feel) damn good! :P

Don't make me post pictures to prove it :D

I lost 100 in 5 months...because I was in the hospital with complications with the sleeve...Helped that I did not eat for 51/2 months and almost died..Try not to do it how I did eh..

Oh yes I will be a year on Nov.6th and down 176 lbs....I think being really, really sick gave me an edge...and not a good one I might add!

I get it, results vary. I'm entering this cautiously. Which is why I'm simply asking how long it took. No values given either way. Just research.

I'm new to the sleeve (meaning I haven't gotten it yet), but I've been researching wls for 8 years. Just waited until I was done having babies before I did it. I have lost hundreds (and gained them back) over the years, so I know how slowly it can come off. Like I said, this is just a harmless poll.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
