  1. I really find if we start with our Protein, not drink Water (like grilled chicken and asparagus or broccoli), then add some mashed potato or corn, we will do just fine... A few sips of water and done... You won't gain weight on that, we can't not lose if we're eating fish and stuff...
  2. My losses are SO SLOW!!! I need some tips...
  3. Day 19 here (12/4/13), and down 16.5 pounds. It's slowing a bit, averaging 3-4 pounds a week now with a large first week's loss... I'm happy about that. My surgeon puts us on 3 weeks liquids before we can start on the puree stage, and I'm going out of my mind. I'm so sick of sweets, it's driving me nuts. I'm drinking a lot of soups, and I confess this weekend I ate a small handful of goldfish crackers with my pea soup. I mashed them up in my mouth until very soft and sipped my soup, so it was like a puree consistency. I'm just dying to eat something! I cannot wait for Wed. when I can!
  4. Good luck all Dec. sleevers. I was sleeved on 12/4 and I'm down 13.5 pounds. Today is my 2 week weigh in, I've been stalled at this exact weight for 5 whole days, and I'm hoping to see the scale move soon!
  5. Start weight: 265 12/4/13 surgery date: 263 12/11/13 Wk 1: 255.5 Total lost: 9.5 pounds!!! So far so good! 5'8 1/2 41 yrs — feeling awesome.
  6. Start weight: 265 12/4/13 surgery date: 263 12/11/13 Wk 1: 255.5 Total lost: 9.5 pounds!!! So far so good! 5'8 1/2 41 yrs — feeling awesome.
  7. Following you too Maddie! To prepare, I bought 3 types of protein drinks (powder and liquid) for my pre-op diet. Next weekend, after I get paid, I will buy my vitamins. I'm waiting until my surgeon pre-op appt. before I invest. I read so many mixed things - gummies, no gummies, flinstone chewables, no flintstones... I do already have b12 sublingual tabs and biotin though, so I'll keep those. Looking for recommendations on: chewable or liquid multi chewable calcium chewable fiber (do we need this?) D (heard we needed this too) Advice on how/when to take these. Ugh, so many pills, and I HATE pills!
  8. I'm so excited to be nearing my surgery date. This is my last "normal" weekend, as I'll be starting my 2 week pre-op liquid diet on Wednesday. So, I'm excited to be beginning the weight loss phase of this journey. Pre-ops are done! I've just started a blog about this journey. Feel free to follow me> I don't have the guts to put it all out there on video in a vlog, but I will keep a record of my weight loss journey here: http://lissavsg.wordpress.com
  9. Wow this group has grown!!! I'm having a hard time keeping up! 2 weeks and 6 days countdown for me. I start the liquid diet in 6 days. Yes, that means no Thanksgiving dinner this year. Oh well, I'm hoping to take off about 10 pounds pre-op, so my eyes are on the prize. All my clothes are fitting pretty snug these days due to food funerals I've been having... Not a good strategy I know. It's getting so real. I just made my final co-insurance payment, and filled out all pre-op paperwork at the hospital, so all I have to do is check in on the op day. So very excited and proud of me putting myself first. As a single mom, I'm never putting my needs first, and it's about time.
  10. Thanks for replying! Where do you live? Congrats on your success!
  11. Hey there! I'm on Dec 4th. Where in So Cal are ya?
  12. This is a great question. I have a desk job and only 1 week of time off (vacation) due to being new, and not taking disability. Surgery Wed (12/4), and off for 1 week through following Wed (12/11), working from home Thurs-Fri (12/12-13), and back into the office on Monday (12/16) which will be 12 days out.
  13. Hi, I'm being sleeved on Dec. 4th, and I'm looking for a mentor to walk this journey with me. I'm located in Orange County, CA. Thanks!!!
  14. Dec. 4th here. Need to get my supplements and some unflavored protein. I have two types of flavored protein: rtd and powdered. I'm kind of freaking out too. Not so much about what I'm going to eat, but complications since I'm a single mom. I have a shit ton of life insurance but I'm everything to my kids. Ugh! I know this is a necessary surgery for health reasons. Just feeling selfish at times because there's also a good bit of vanity involved as well.
  15. I. Got my. Date!!!!! December 4th I will be sleeved!!!! HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF, and I can breathe again! Now I need to come up with the co-pay! Haha...
  16. Ugh, no!!! I think I made them mad, I called and she told me I had to be patient with the process. She assured me I'd get in before the end of the year, but I'm freaking out not knowing in advance. I have to plan!! My co-worker is getting sleeved on 12/18 and taking 6 weeks off, so I want to get in and be back by then. I'm only taking 2 weeks off. Well, one technically. Then working from home the second week. 17. I'm so happy for all of you with your dates scheduled! I'm patiently waiting for the coordinator call since I got approved by insurance last Friday... Going NUTS though! This is rough!
  18. I got approved on Friday, and now I'm waiting for the Dr. office to call me to schedule my pre-ops, then set a surgery date. I just want the surgery date first and then I'll calm down and get my remaining pre-ops done... I NEED TO KNOW! Haha!
  19. This is a great strategy. Back in the day when I worked out with a personal trainer, they basically said this same thing to me. Don't start doing an hour of cardio a day now, when you have all the weight to lose, because by the time you're lighter, you'll have to do 3 hrs/day to maintain what your body is used to! I think about half way I'm going to start to incorporate weight training 2 days and small walks (30 minutes) 3 days a week, resting on weekends. I don't want a ton of loose skin, but I also want to take advantage of my honeymoon period (that 1st year) to get the weight off...
  20. EKG, GI, chest X-ray, labs... A surgeon appt. I can get all that in pretty quick once I have the procedure date. I'd call them now, because it never hurts to get a 2nd opinion. Also, you've moved so its a legitimate request. Not like you're shopping around. I can't say enough about them, they're great! Sent from my iPad using VST
  21. I'm sorry for your struggles Uber. I would look I to the self pay TJ option. I would have done that f I were denied. Luckily my approval came through yesterday.
