Smooth Recovery? Anyone?

Recommended Posts

Lynn I was sleeved on the 19th and have had a pretty smooth recovery also. I had some in surgery complications, my heart rate spiked and was hard to control so they sent me home with my drain in. That stunk and was very uncomfortable but surgeon took it out a week after (five days ago) and I quickly felt better. Even with the drain I was up walking around and never had any nausea or vomiting. I looked at all the feedback and had resigned myself before surgery that I was just going to be horribly sick for the first few weeks maybe month, but thankfully NOTHING! I have followed my surgeons instructions and all has gone well. I felt bad because I looked on here and almost everything seemed to be about what is bad and going wrong... So I am glad to see all of these post from people that are glad that made this choice and it is going well for them also. I had my first egg today with some laughing cow cheese... it was great! Just go slow, follow what your surgeon tells you, small bites, chew everything well and listen to your body!

Thanks Cathy!

I am now 6 days post op and so far, so good. I haven't had any pain from incision sites at all. My biggest battles have been gas pain and Constipation which peaked about Day 3 post op but is now much better. I have been able to get my Protein and 64oz of liquid in. I do have spasms if I try to drink too fast, though. I go for my first post op appt on Thurs and should be advanced to purees. Thanks again for your words of encouragement.

Lynn!

Use a heating pad on your chair when resting and at night. Place it between your shoulder blades. Use Gas-X strips. They work great.

I still have not been able to get 64 oz of fluids in. I been trying not sure what else to try to get it all in.

I haven't done this, but our Nut says to drink one ounce of Fluid every 15 minutes.

My recovery was similar. Heart rate spiking. A-Fib, controlled with meds. Other than that.. Pretty smooth recovery.

My doctor is very conservative, so my foods have been brought on slowly. Ok by me. Never a problem. I ate too much over Thanksgiving. Good to know what the limits are.... Back on the program now. Soooooo happy to be back.

Follow doctors instructions and remember it is for the rest of your life..... Not a day or week.

Smooth sailing here. Was sleeved in Mexico on Nov 15, 2013 with zero complications. I am working and doing great. Best thing I have ever done for myself. Down 19lbs. Ask all the questions you would like and I will be glad to answer all that I can.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
