December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Alright December Sleevers, I'm hoping that this title brings more people in so we can follow and encourage each other through our journeys.

I am 40. I'm 5'4" and about 308 right now. I'd like to get to a healthy BMI which would be around 145. I'm hoping for a December 4th or 5th date with Dr. William Johnson.

Everyone introduce yourselves!

Talked to my surgeon's office and they're getting all the paperwork sent to my insurance for approval.....now I wait. :o)

I'm taking around 4 weeks off from work. My employer has great short term disability coverage for it's employees. I could take 8 weeks off and get 100% of my pay. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Hopefully I'll recover from this surgery as quickly as I did with my c-section.

Hi Blondiee, that's great! I have short term disability but I wasn't sure since this is an elective surgery if it would qualify. Hmm I should check into that...but the only issue is having to tell people...where as if I just took vacation time no one would know. Hmmm decisions decisions lol

Dear God I hope the pain is nothing like my C section. That hurt like a mother$&@@##. :)

Kkrose, I've not had a c-section but I have read a lot of posts from folks here saying their recovery from the sleeve surgery was much smoother than from their c-sections

wow! 47 that amazing

You don't have to tell anyone. Tell your HR rep that you're having surgery and provide him/her with the paperwork from your doctor's office. That's it. :)

I'm really nervous, I've never had any surgery, only been in the hospital once last yr.

Thanks AtlantaRed for continually updating our list...you ROCK!!!

AngiD - I'm with you - never had a hospital stay so this is all very new!

No problem! I think it'll be great for us to suffer and succeed together!!

There are a couple from the December Sleevers? who haven't made it over yet.

Was just notified today about being moved from November 20 to December 13. Really upset at the delay. Readfy to roll. I am 51 year old male starting at 344 lbs, Used to be so atheltic and now I can't even walk due to my knees. Looking forward to a great future. I am self pay, Was denied by insurance twice since 2010 and really glad I was now because I would have had a lap band instead.....

Welcome to the group! I think December will be here before we know it!

Hello There - I will be a December sleever as well. I've finished the checklist required by my insurance company and have my 1st of 2 appointments with my Surgeon tomorrow at 10:30. I also have to take my support person to tomorrow's appointment so they are aware of what I will need from them in regards to assistance post surgery. I just can't believe I'm almost there. I'm SO excited!!!!! The office I'm using is very familiar with my insurance as several people from my place of employment have had surgery so they know it down to almost the day in regards to approval and how long it takes. They told me I could get it done the end of November but I've already let them know if prefer to wait until December. And with my birthday being Dec. 2nd this will be the ultimate birthday gift to myself....A HEALTHIER ME!!!!
