Pumpkin Protein Shake Recipe

Recommended Posts

Hi all. My hubby came home one day last week with a pumpkin spice latte from McDonalds and was raving about it. It smelled really good but I don't like coffee so that got me thinking about trying to come up with a pumpkin Protein shake. I've been playing around with it for about a week and have finally found just the right pumpkin pie taste, and it's quite good if I do say so myself. I thought I'd share the recipe with my fellow sleevers.

Add to blender:

1 cup (8oz) skim milk

1 scoop vanilla Protein Powder, I use unjury

3 tablespoons canned solid pack pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie mix)

pumpkin pie spice to taste

Blend well on high for a minute or two.

Add:

2 teaspoons Jello instant sugar free vanilla pudding mix----this helps to thicken the mixture and makes it a more shake-

like consistency.

Blend on high for another minute or two, pour and ENJOY! Makes about 12 oz once fully blended.

I actually drink my shake in the morning on the way to work but I mix the first 4 ingredients in the blender as directed the night before, refrigerate overnight, and then in the morning I add in the pudding mix, blend for a minute or two, and off I go. And this recipe is easily tweaked to suit your own taste buds----you could use a different type of milk, fresh pumpkin puree instead of canned, more or less pumpkin pie spice (or different spices altogether), other additions, etc. During my experimental trials I made a couple shakes with Torani sugar free Pumpkin Pie Syrup added to the recipe and that was good too. Just play around with the recipe until you come up with what tastes great to you.

I'm a pumpkin junkie too!! And since I started this journey 11 months ago, I NEVER would have thought I'd ever utter the words "quite good" and "protein shake" in the same sentence. I've gotten used to and can tolerate the Unjury chocolate splendor as well as the Premier chocolate shakes and consider them the lesser of all evils, but these pumpkin shakes actually make me feel like I'm having a delicious treat.

If made following the recipe as written, there are about 210 calories. Of course if you alter the recipe that would change the calorie count as well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
