What are some go to food.

Something that stays with the band food rules and is easy to have or get when you are out and about. Or even if you are home.

If I am out and about, I can do Wendy's chili. small is enough with a few crackers.. keeps me happy for 3-4 hours.. sometimes I take a Protein Bar, Quest or adkins with me in case I get stuck somewhere I can't get food.. At home I eat yogurt greek - cottage cheese with fruit sometimes.. lunch is either chicken with veggies or salad sometimes I eat tuna salad or chicken salad.. I always prepare, since being banded I don't want to be out and get super hungry.. then you make bad choices...

At home, I eat a lot of 98% fat free turkey chili with Beans. I mix 2 tbls of 1/3 less fat cream cheese into 1/2 cup of chili then melt shredded colby jack over the top. It's very filling and a good amount of Protein plus it's very tasty.

I also keep cucumber in the fridge, for when I crave something salty and crunchy (I put a little salt on them)

On the go, I keep a Protein Bar in my purse just in case.

I eat a lot of meatballs. In fact I made some for dinner. They are easy to chew and go down nicely and are considered a mushy. I also make sweet and sour meatballs. Mashed potatoes, butternut squash those are soft and easy.

When out, also when out a burger. I usually eat 1-2 bites of the roll and can figure out about 4 oz. I don't eat Soup but a lot of people have this out and it is also safe and easy.

I eat out all the time. I love salmon, shrimp, Chinese food. Last night I had salad with salmon and the night before salad with shrimp and both restaurants were Italian. For once I was good and didn't have Pasta at either.

Ahhh okay, I drink some of those too, the grape, cherry and peach. Now I mostly drink the Hawaiian Punch Lemon berry, found also at Wal Mart, and equivalent to Crystal Light.

Turkey Chili, Cottage cheese, Greek Yogurt w/ fruit, Canned Turkey w/ mayo, Laughing Cow cheese spread on a rice cake, Turkey bacon or turkey dogs, meatballs (which I don't mind eating w/ variety of sauces like bbq or Tomato for added flavor), sandwich meats and bonne belle cheeses, and egg salad are the common staples go-tos in my house.

Protein shake and/or bar for emergency backup when going out, but I also have a list of restaurants I have preselected low cal and high Protein meals at and can eat at guilt free.

Is this a chili that you make yourself? Or do you buy it? If it's homemade, would you mind sharing your recipe?

Oh it's just the canned chili at the grocery store. I believe it's Hormel. Quick and easy, just add your own cream cheese and shredded cheese :)

Wow thanks for all the ideas. I am getting an adjustment on Thursday after being unrestricted for a long time.

It sounds like the best thing for me to do is to be prepared. And stop and think to make a good choice.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
