Hard not to...

Recommended Posts

It's hard not to compare yourself to other banded people that got banded around the time I did. I've lost 39.7 lbs since April and I understand that it's wonderful but it's hard not to think why haven't I lost 70 or 80 lbs in 6 months. Maybe it's different body types that lose faster or it's they are working out more a week and more intense. Lol I don't know I just had to let that out :-)

Hi :)

You hit it on the head.

Maybe they started at a higher weight. Maybe they are being more restrictive with cals. Or maybe working out like gym freaks. Who knows haha. But by numbers, you are right on track for the avg weight loss stats.

I think sometimes we hear these wonder losses and we are so hopeful it'll happen to us we feel defeated when it doesn't happen. But those are not the normal results. AND may I stress here, it's not how much someone loses, but loses AND maintains.

I see heeps of people losing 100+ lbs and gaining it back after becoming lax w/ rules or not getting fills etc. The same person who got a head start, may be trailing you in the end. Again, it's not a competition, but if you stay vigilant and observant, you'll see that's what happens.

Stay positive. Don't track others results, just yours. That's hard enough :)

Thank you :-) I just needed to get it off my chest because y'all are the only ones that know what I'm going through. I haven't gained since my first fill so I'm maintaining and I just have to remember I'm not gaining so I'm losing haha! Sometimes it gets to ya no matter how excited you are for someone sometimes you think dang I want to have that loss. I'm going to start going to the gym more often. I'm scared of excess skin. How are you doing?

Just set yourself some small goals and work on them. Don't compare yourself to others, just keep track of your progress. We got this!

It's soooo hard not to compare, trust me! My advice....take lots of pictures of yourself and track your measurements then compare your own progress from month to month. You'll be so amazed with yourself! :)

Some times we don't see or think the scale is moving , try not to weigh your self every day I usually don't weigh till I am going to the doc I might do it a week before tho sometimes , I have noticed tho that my clothes & hip sizes are shrinking so I feel it there and I am glad of that also just the small steps of being able to be more physical so think of those things also remember if we were all the same we woild be boring and not unique in our own ways, don't get discouraged I thought the same at times and it took me a while but my doc and I figured out what was best for me , now you just have to find out what is right with u.

I agree my clothes are getting easier to wear. I was on the tighter end of my size so I haven't went down a size that I know yet...(I haven't tried on any other sizes). If I weighed myself everyday I would go absolute crazy! I weigh once a week (same day and time every week) and this last month I only weighed once because of work lol.

Well I'm pretty big starting out lol. I mean 393 at the beginning so I figured I would be losing like crazy but I'm kind of glad I'm losing slow because I'm scared of excess skin. I'm the type that wants instant gratification and this is something you have to have patience with and I'm trying to learn that :-)

Yeah I am frightened of excess skin too! I started at 250 pounds and last time i lost the weight i did it via exercise over 18mths and i didnt have excess skin but I am 5 yrs older now and am a little bit bigger so i am scared. Slowly wins the race, although I love seeing the scales go down and want that instant gratification too :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
