What is average weight loss before 1st fill?

Recommended Posts

Hey kat.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to do what you say. Wait for the fill until I am not losing.

My stomach has rarely felt empty or growling. So, if I pay attention to my PHYSICAL hunger, I would say I have not really been hungry very much since banding. Paying attention to if I am really hungry and learning to overcome the head hunger is my personal challenge. I think I can do it.

It is wierd that after being banded I am no longer a mindless eater. I am actually thinking about how many calories are in everything, how much I am eating. I just need to learn that I need to STOP when my stomach is NOT HUNGRY anymore. I find that as I am eating, even though I can tell I am not really hungry, I feel the urge to keep eating because I like it. That is what got me into the weight problem. At least I am not pushing the limit and even though I WANT to keep eating, I stop. I believe that is from the band. Usually after about 5 minutes, the urge to keep eating goes away.

:) THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!!!!

I know for me, I don't eat until my stomach growls really bad. I just keep up with the fluids. It's definetly a lot of willpower!

Sounds to me like you guys have figured out things really well, and really quick!!!! If you can continue to just eat until you are no longer hungry, and not try to eat until you are full---you will be sooooo far ahead of the game!!!

GREAT JOB!!!! Do y'all give lessons???????

How much is everyone eating at a time?? I only eat 4oz for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I try to not snack--no more than 2 a day--FFpopcicle or something. I have lost 24lbs since 2/1 was banded on 2/22. Haven't lost any in 1.5 weeks I too am getting frustated. When I went for my 1 week post op he said that i may continue to lose, stay the same or even gain 3 or 4 lbs. I think to gain would be devestating.

Hi,

I am at the very first steps of my road to be banded. I have been to my seminar and I am up for my Dr. consultation on Monday and I was really getter nerveous while reading all these stories abou erosion and PB's and Sliming ( None of these things I know what they are ), I was getting ready to give it up when I read the response from Kat817 and I had to put a reply.

Thank you and may God Bless, I might be back on track now.

Littleman---nerves get to all of us!!! If it ever gets overwhelming, or you have questions---do not hesitate to ask. We have all been in your shoes!!!

You also need to remember, many people who are not having any problems, are not here posting everyday---or the boards would be full of threads like "Another GREAT day" or "I'm not hungry"....but when we have a problem or need a question answered, this is the place to go---so the numbers seem a little out of balance---but there are really less complications than it can seem.

Like I say---ask away---if we don't know the answer, we will help you hunt an answer down!

:cryI am in the same place as everyone else on here. I don't get my 2nd fill until 4-9 and I haven't lost anything since I moved off liquids. It's kind of scary to get another fill because food gets stuck. I don't get why it gets stuck if I am not properly restricted. But I know I can eat a portion that's bigger than I was told to eat. My first fill was 1 1/4 ccs which sounds like it's pretty common for a first one. I hope the next one makes a difference. I am to the point now where I am having trouble keeping off what I lost during the liquid stage.

Banster Hell is a perfect way to put it!:cry:think

Hi: Like all of the posts, I am just two months after banding and I can eat anything. I get my first fill April 24th. However, I do have restriction if I take too large a bite and swallow without chew chew chewing the food. The pain and sliming is awlful and lasts about 15 minutes unless one pukes. I have learned to chew each bite at least 20 times and meat 35 times or more also to take small bites. So all of you waiting for your first fill, read the posts as to the symptons of feeling full or you will for sure have the PBs. Doddie

Another thing about PBing that I have learned since my fill is that you should wait a couple of minutes between bites. I have PBd from taking too many bites without resting in between. Sometimes I don't realize I am going to have a problem for a minute or so after the bite. Waiting between bites is also important.

Hi Susan: I could not agree more with you. That is the hardest part and I haven't learned it yet. Putting the knife and fork down while I chew is a habit I have to consciously think about. Good tip for the newbies. Doddie

It is so great to find out that what I am experiencing is normal!! I thought I was the exception to the rule! I've had my first fill and feel no restriction. In fact, I was asking myself the same questions - so it's great to learn it will improve. I am changing my life style, eating high Protein, low fat, etc. I am trying to use Water as a filler - - but when that doesn't work, I eat stuff like Melba toast, or low fat pretzels!!

Thank you all for making me feel Normal!!!

;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
