I don't even know where my port is...

Recommended Posts

I'm nine days out of surgery and so many people talk about port pain, but I don't even feel my port. Is that really that abnormal?

I'm all worried that the fill shots are gonna hurt now.. :(

Hi there! I just had my first fill this morning and there was absolutely NO PAIN! I was sore after surgery but have not felt the port at all for several weeks. When I was in for he fill, the nurse had me lay down with a pillow under my back. She felt for the port and had me lift me head so she could really feel it and that was the first time I really knew where it was. Since it was the first fill, they drew out all the Fluid to record it and then put that back in with an additional 1 cc of fluid. It was over in about 2 minutes and was painless. No worries. I was scared about how I would feel after, but I was fine. I had Water before I left to make sure all was well. There is definitely more restriction but nothing scary, no ill side effects, eating solids with no problems.

Okay, awesome. Did it hurt when she found it any? Was it uncomfortable?

No, it was so much better than what I had anticipated. I asked to have the area numbed, she said most people don't after the first fill. I had a little pinch and that was really it. Now I know it is nothing to be scared of!

The anticipation is always worse than the event... getting a fill is so easy.. I still can't feel my port.. and I have lost 55 lbs.. so far...

i asked my dr was he sure he did the band surgery as i couldnt feel this hard thing i read about on here......via my new profile pic, dr had to cut through alot of fatness to put the port in..its there,,,,,,i can feel it and see a slight bulge now...i think of my port (and the wee scar) as battle scars.. my battle against being obese......and ole gal is winning

nothing hurts worse then being over 300+ pounds and cant wipe your butt well...

when i ever get a fill, i will try to remember that when the needle finds its way

Thanks for all the replies! :)

I guess it just seemed weird to me since everyone has been talking about how they know where their port site is, and I'm just over here like, "Well, I have four incisions, so I'm gonna guess it's somewhere around one of those!" ;)

Maybe you don't HAVE a port ;)

That would be bad, lol! I think I have a port, but I know I'm losing weight, so as long as it's working I don't care! I'm down 8lbs since surgery, ten days ago!! ;)

I've found it now!! It is in the middle of my tummy! XD mystery solved, you can all return to your regularly scheduled programming. It doesn't hurt really, but I just found it applying light pressure around the incisions. Someone suggested it was their largest incision, and it was mine too. XP

I'm glad you found it that's my biggest incision as well but I knew that my doc places ports in the chest area and this has actually been the most painful incision.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
