Constipation

Recommended Posts

Oh believe me, Pat, it was the softener! I work about 75 feet from one bathroom and 15 feet from another...But the one I'm closer to, we're not allowed to use...grrr! "Office visitors only"

I sure wasn't going to risk any major accidents getting 75 feet down the hall! :(

I was banded on Monday and still haven't had a BM. I've taken four tablespoons of Milk of Mag and drank 8 oz of prune juice? How long did it take for everyone to have any results. I haven't even had a "marble." I am gassy though. I'm drinking a lot of Water but that only helps me urinate. Also it takes a while for me to urinate now too. Don't know if that's a side effect of the medication or what.

I am having problems with Constipation. I eat spinach, by choice at least 4-5 x a week, I take Benefiber 3 x a day, drink 4- 50 oz of Water, exercise twice a week, and walk 30 minutes 3 x a week. I was banded 8-28-08, I have gone up to 11 days w/out a BM. I do not feel uncomfortable, it's only when I do move my bowels that I have such a difficult, uncomfortable time. My doctor told me not to use Milk of Magnesium. Help...

GasX chewables work wonders on intestional gas, one or 2 and you are good.

I haven't had a BM just liquid out the butt LOL tmi I know but I was on a liquid preop aside from having cottage cheese and yogurt for solids.... so I don't have anything to move yet... still liquids.

My surgeon told me only to use Milk of Magnesia in emergencies. As a regular course of action he recommended that I eat 3 or 4 PEELED sections of grapefruit a day, up my Water, and if needed a few stewed prunes (boiled in a little water) poured over my cottage cheese in the morning. It's actually quite good..... I had a hell of a time with this my first year, but after I had gall bladder surgery, it's not a problem anymore. I also quit focusing all my attention on Protein, protein, protein. Once I started eating more fruit and veggies, it was so much better.

you know Aubrie I was thinking about that. So much protein and if Constipation would be an issue. I think there is too much emphisis on protein. I am on the side of more veggies, little fruit since it has sugar, but other nutrional value. I am going to get food allergy testing so that I can make better food choices for my body. I was a Lacto Vegan once apon a time and very healthy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
