Terrified of the procedure itself!

Recommended Posts

I've wrapped my mind around the before and after preparations. And I am as educated as one can be about life after surgery but the actual procedure, letting someone go inside my body and rewire my plumbing is freaking me out! Any wise words? Especially from those fresh out would be helpful. Its the only thing I'm struggling with. Pain I can handle. But the operating table is giving me major anxiety. Thanks :/

Calm down. If you've chosen your doctor well, don't worry about the specifics of what is being done inside--you'll be unconscious anyway.

This is a bit like renovating an older house. You may have to rearrange some systems like plumbing, but then it's wonderful to have a newly remodeled kitchen and bath. Living in the house is so much easier and more enjoyable after the reno. You have to get past the process and focus on the end results.

My surgeon has performed more than 6,000 WL surgeries and is part of a Bariatric Center of Excellence. My hospital is highly rated by various agencies.. I chose carefully and gave a great deal of thought to whether I was ready to commit to the lifelong eating and exercise programs. In the end, it was all about having a vastly improved quality of life and being happy with myself! Looking back, my only regret is that I didn't do this years ago!

Keep your eyes on the big picture and don't get lost in the details. You are going to be so happy when you gain control of your weight, your health and your life!

My biggest fear is they start to operate and I'm not asleep and I can't tell them I'm asleep. When is your surgery? Mine is Nov. 8th. Good luck to us.

I would be righg there with you if I allowed myself to think about it. I only think about before and after because thats all ill remember anyway!! I do however feel sorry for anyone who deals with me morning of because I will be a hot mess! I had gallbladder surgery which was my first surgery- ok minus a c section but I was awake plus I got a baby sooo thats different! But them preping me for surgery...I was convinced I wouldnt wake up...of course I was fine .. So I choose to not think about it and save that for the day of when I have no choice! Until then Ill remind myself of the healthy mom ny princess gets to have!! My surgery is also December! !!

I have had four surgeries and never had a complication from any one of them. I look at this one as the one that is going to save my life. I can't wait to go under this knife.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
