fluid in lungs 10 days post op

Recommended Posts

I was having a lot of pain at 10 days out. Could not take deep breaths and severe pain in upper abdomen. Went to the ER. They ruled out a PE and any leaks. Surgery wise everything looked good but had some Fluid in lungs and inflammation of the lining of my lungs. I am definitely walking more and using my IS and pain is somewhat better. I think the fluid in my lungs is better but still very painful to breathe deep and can't lay on side because of pain. I researched a bit and assuming what I have is a bilateral pleural effusion. I am supposed to make an appt for one more week with my surgeon but am concerned the effusion won't get better without intervention. It is still extremely painful. Anybody else have this? I can't find anywhere that this is normal and I am still painful. It has been 3 days since my trip to the ER. Thanks, Sue

This is not normal... I would go to a lung specialist (pulmanologist sp?)

That's what I thought. Will talk to my surgeon and hopefully get a referral. Was hoping it would resolve on its own. Thanks, Sue

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
