Mskami congrats on your approval!!! I remember I literally cried and danced up the aisle at work!! Yay for being one HUGE step closer to the Loser's Bench!!

Thanks! I was in a meeting when I saw Aetna pop up on my phone. I was freaking out for 2 hours before I could check the message. lol. Then I went to my office, closed the door and did the happy dance.

Too funny! We had OSHA onsite today soo I had to be professional in front of others. I will make everyone Celebrate with me on Friday. Crystal Light margaritas and mojitos for everyone. (Virgin of course) :D

So happy to see so many new people in the group! Yay for all the new surgery dates and approvals! I submit mine 11/25 and hopefully no issues with a 12/18 surgery date! Its a week before Christmas and with a husband on midnight shift and a 1 year old..this wont be easy. But it will be worth it. Really struggling with this but I have to hope Im making the right choice. :/

I got approved today! So excited! I will most likely have a December surgery. My surgeon is still out of commission until further notice. He says it looks like he'll be healed either late November or early December. He has about 15 patients ahead of me so I'll be within 2 weeks of his return.

This has been such an emotional rollercoaster. The anxiety of waiting is starting to take a toll on me. I'm using this time to prepare myself and my family for the changes to come but I wanna be on the losers bench already.

My kids are excited now that they understand it better. Even my 5 and 7 year olds ask me when we are shopping' date=' "Mommy can you eat that after surgery?" If I say no then they tell me not to buy it. My 17 and 11 year old were really worried about my safety. I took them to a support group meeting and they feel much better after asking tons of questions. I'm still working on my husband but I think he'll be the tough nut to crack. He's overweight as well and he's not ready to make changes yet. I have to let him have his own journey but I worry about his health also.

I'm rambling now. I haven't really commented to much to this topic because I wasn't sure about my date. Now that I have an approval I need to get better acquainted with y'all. lol.[/quote']

How exciting! !!!

It used to be all the co-morbidities' date=' except type 2 diabetes. But my pre-surgery blood work revealed elevated A1C. My surgeon said that would go away completely. He and my PCP said the others should go away too, or at least improve to the point my meds can be reduced. That's why I picked the "hopingnomeds" username.[/quote']

My bloodwork also revealed an elevated A1C...my surgeons office basically said..im dietetic however my PCP said it wasnt THAT high and doesnt 100% mean I am so im confused! Lol

I'm sorry to hear about your elevated A1C, RDCLambert. Maybe the reason one says it's diabetes and the other says not 100%, is because it's caught early enough that the RNY will nip it in the bud. In this part of the country they say elevated A1C could be type 2 diabetes or it could mean "pre-diabetes". Either way, hopefully, our RNY's WILL cure this.

Here are the guidelines. An A1C 6.5 or higher is diagnostic for diabetes. An A1C of 5.7-6.4 is prediabetes. Hope this helps! Either way RNY us your best option for improvement :)

Thanks! I did have gestational diabetes while pregnant with my daughter so I could only assume it was on the way! Surgery should be on 12/18 and I am most scared about not being the mommy my child knows and loves to Celebrate christmas :/ I know things will be rough...but Im not worried about the pain. I was in labor for 24 hours and then had a c section in which the numbness wore of and if I can do that pain....I can do this pain! Lol. My husband is so supportive but I just worry!

Thanks SoccerMomma73 and RDCLambert! To RDCLambert, I believe you've done everything you can do for now. I don't know your husband or any other support people you have in your life. But your comments about them, especially your husband, indicate you DO have their support. And as you said, if you can handle a C-section, which I, as a guy, can only be in awe of, you can handle the RNY! ;-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
