I have a question it may be dumb but I have to ask. I get hungry about everything 2-3 hours is this normal? Am I not eating enough? I'm almost 4 weeks post opp. Also my left side is still a little tender is this normal? I don't go to the doctor until the 17th.

You shouldn't really be getting hungry yet. It takes longer than 4 weeks for the nerves to regenerate. Are you sure it's not head hunger? My surgeons meal plan says 3 meals a day, no exceptions. I guess if I were you I'd time and measure my meals and up my fluids. And I'd check with your nutritionist.

I would agree that this is more than likely head hunger. At 4 weeks your body is still asking itself what happened to me.

I try to eat every two hours, but I am a year post op. always check with your doc as you will soon learn every doc is different.

I feel real hunger too. I mean when your tummy growls it's real hunger. My dr told me to just watch the portion sizes. If you can only eat 2-3 ounces of food at a time you HAVE to eat more frequently to get all the Protein you need. This was a complete switch from preop when they said "3 meals a day". Everything is individual. Drink all your liquids and measure your food. Good luck :)

I felt real hunger 1.5 weeks out from surgery, and it is definitely not head hunger, I get that too and there is a big difference. I eat every 3 hours and deal with it. It certainly is surprising though, most people I know are not hungry after RNY but I do know, in real life, some that do get hungry.

I mentioned it to my surgeon and she just said "it happens".

Well .. eating something every 2-3 hrs is normal on my doctors plan..

I eat Breakfast at about 7.

snack at 930 or 10.

lunch at 12 or 1230.

Snack at 3.

dinner at 6.

I am still not feeling hungry or full.

I stick to the plan given to me and measure everything.

My daily food schedule is much like Rem's, except I only get three meals and one snack. My nutritionist told me that if I felt the need to, I could eat six small evenly spaced meals instead of the three plus snack. I do this if I am out and about all day. I pack my little meals in an insulated lunch bag so I always have something healthy I can tolerate. :-)

My meal plan is very similar except I have another snack at night. It is typically a glass of skim milk or a cheese stick. Something with Protein but easy on the pouch. I think having a hard consistent eating pattern has taken the guesswork out of a lot of this.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
