Did your insurance cover the revision?

Recommended Posts

Recently I had asked my surgeon to allow me to use my band prior to surgery. He agreed and scheduled me for a fill. The clinic I am using called me to say that if I filed with my insurance for my fill then they would not cover my Gastric Bypass. Apparently my insurance will only cover one WLS a lifetime.

Obviously I already had a WLS. I used my father's insurance to have surgery and did not use my personal insurance at all. The clinic called to say there is a chance that now my personal insurance might not cover the procedure, because it is a revision. This set me into a panic thinking that I might not actually have this surgery. I took it upon myself to call the insurance and confirm this. I was told that the revision would not effect them paying of my GB, because I hadn't use them for the Lapband.

The Patient Advocate at the clinic said there is no way to know if that is true until I complete the steps to get authorized. I don't really trust what the Patient Advocate is saying, because she has given me a lot of false information already.

Basically, I am wanting to know if anyone had issues with their insurance turning them down because they have previously had Lapband surgery before having a Gastric Bypass?

I had the sleeve done 2009 and it has been a week since they sent my information to the insurance... Im still waiting to hear from my insurance so I will keep you posed . As for tour situation I cant see why they wouldn't approve since the insurance you have now i different and your doctor says the revision is needed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
