Hi it's ok to be nervous. I had rny on may 2,2012. I did develop some complications at the beginning. I have lost 97 lbs and I would do it all over again if I had to. I feel so much better now and I didn't before the surgery. Even with the complications I had it was worth it.

No one here can tell you whether or not to have the surgery... Only you can decide. Do research. Trust in your doctor.. Make sure he or she tells you the good and the bad. Personally best thing I have ever done... I have had no complications but it is hard work and it requires a lot of discipline and patience. If you have any doubts then your not ready. This is a life changing life altering endeavor not to be taken lightly!!

I agree, it is your decision. There are going to be people with complications. Its a big surgery. But the quality of life after wards is the best. I am very happy with mine. It isn't easy, you do have to work at it. Good luck!

I had problems after surgery but I would difently d o it again it a lot better the some of other problems you could have without doing the surgery there risk in everything you do there's moe risk getting in your car and having an accident about 100-1 I think BUT you just have to think all good things are worth the work it takes to get there and everyone's nervous a little scared and you have did this to yourself so you need to take responsibility for yourself and for your loved ones who don't want you to lose the quality of life you should be living. Yes it is a lot of work and Yes your life is going to change and there's lots to do and keep up with but you can do it and there's lots if support here and should be thru your dr SUPPORT groups Go if your dr offers classes GO its all there for your tacking so take it and you'll be much happier

I was lucky enough not to have any issues after surgery....or in the 8 months since. But I do know that I have to work hard at losing the weight, it wasnt meant to be a quick fix. Everyone is different, and everyones story is different. It's not easy for any of us, but the research I did before hand really paid off by helping me cope, understand and follow my dr's plan, and make the changes in needed to for success.

I would NOT trade it for anything!! I just wish I had surgery 20 years ago!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
