Good question. My mom emailed me today urging me to get one because of something she read on-line about a bariatric patient. I will ask my doctor about it when I go for my 3 month visit. No mention of a Bracelet has been made at any of the support meetings. I guess it is a personal decision to make.

Hi Janice!! Hope u had fun on ur trip. This is a new pic? Looks great!!! 27lb is great!!!! U have been through so much and it's gonna be ok and u are gonna do great!! Well my surgeons office actually gave me a brochure and they nurse told me about it and showed me hers she wears since she had rny. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get one. Just seems sensible to do as I worry too much and I also see so many accidents in my career field. Hope u are doing well :)

Had a wonderful week with my family in Siesta Key (Sarasota) Florida. (In between the rain downpours!) Exercised like crazy in the pool and was very active all week. Didn't record my food all week (took a break from myfitnesspal) but pretty much ate the same foods every day. I went to a Publix supermarket yesterday and they had a huge scale in their lobby. Showed I had lost 10 lbs. I was so excited. Weighed myself as soon as I got home today on my own scale. No weight loss in 10 days. I guess the scale in FL wasn't accurate. I drank lots of Water all week to try to prevent dehydration in the hot weather. I hate to complain, but I will be 10 weeks post-op on Monday, and I thought I would have lost more weight by now.

There are so many of those Medic Alert bracelets on-line. I don't like things around my wrist...I don't even wear a watch. But I will ask my doctor what he thinks...if he thinks I should get one I will. I just got a script in the mail for my 3 month labs. I hope when I get the results everything is OK. I am keeping up with my Vitamins and I try to get all the Protein in, but 80 grams a day is almost impossible. I just eat as much protein as I can, because I still can't tolerate too much chicken or fish, and can't eat more than 1 egg, if that. I sat here this evening catching up on everyone's progress, and I am amazed at how much weight some people have lost. I guess everyone's bodies are different and I know I shouldn't compare myself to others. I am just happy for everyone's success . The bad news is that I learned I am not sugar intolerant. I nibbled on some M&M's and red licorice on vacation, and it didn't bother me a bit. I didn't gorge on it, but I felt no bad side effects at all. Plus, I had watermelon every day and it was very delicious and refreshing.

Well Janice..hang in there. I know all to well the big Publix scale I always look at it as I walk into my local one. Fl has indeed been wet..I think we will need an ark here soon. I don't think u should feel bad..the m&ms are just am example u can tolerate some sugar but its not to say u go over a certain amount your body won't decide to act out..I've learned I can allow my body 2 Hershey nuggets..my husband just had to buy 2 bags and yes..bad girl that I am..I've had some but only 2 at a time. I've had my share of watermelon but I was told I could have fruit just go easy on more tropical types as they have more sugar. I love watermelon right now. It's my fav shack until I wake up during the night to go potty several times :) if u go back to myfitnesspal look me up my name there is akmjustice and several people on here have friended me and its been great to see what others are consuming and also gives me ideas. I've been pretty religious about logging my stuff as I know it reins me in. There also has been alot of people on here losing tons of weight..I'm not exactly losing alot but I'm proud of my small victories. I am lucky if I lose a lb a week and my hair is coming out in clumps. I'm happy tho cause I have saggy baggy clothes and underwear that are falling down under my clothes and bras that are starting to bunch up the fabric cause too big. All of this "shifting" while I'm not losing any numbers so I try to consul myself in that. I'm gonna try to pull a tape measure out and let that speak for me. Have u noticed any changes? Well hope u continue to get stronger..u have been thru alot. Love to hear u had a good trip.

Hi my surgeons office recommended a medical Bracelet. I did a lot of research online and ended up getting a pretty pearl beaded one at sticky jewelry http://www.stickyj.com/. They have a lot of bracelet options that are interchangeable.

Cool site. I found a blue rubber one I liked

So it is 5:30am here and I finally got my "hot mess" of a daughter to lie down and sleep! She went out with her friends to Celebrate her 21st birthday at midnight. She called for a ride at 1:30am' date=' and was up puking and dry heaving since then! Someone bought her a bottle of tequila (stupid), and she told me, in between pukes, to dump it out! Lets just say i dont think she will be a drinker! She was supposed to go out with a bunch of girls tonight, but I seriously doubt if that will happen, tonight or ever! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> you only turn 21 once! THANK GOD![/quote']

Poor baby! Sounds like she learned a valuable lesson :)

I've been fluctuating between 2 pounds too it is frustrating but trying not to be so hard on myself and stay away from the wicked scale. I know easier said than done lol

So funny and not funny at the same time. Poor girl will probably hate tequila forever <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> your a good mama. My kiddo turns 10 tomorrow and I can't believe it. 21 seems just around the corner.

So sad to see them grow so quickly! How many do you have? Not that it makes. Difference. It is always sad to see them grow so quickly!!

Lol I've never had to drive in it. I may be home bound awhile if that's where we are sent.

It is very fun to play in. ThAt is true and the kids love it. It would be good though to be told how to drive in it. I stayed home a lot. Bit I also lived where they don't salt or maintain the roads so it made it that much harder. Also I had no idea what to do when a window gets all iced over but you drivers license can make a very handy Ice scraper lol just a heads up in case you're I. That situation:)

Well I've only lost about 36lb in my bit over 2 months. I think I'm gonna pull out the tape and start measuring cause the scales don't seem to ever wanna move with me. I probably nearly gave my husband a heart attack this morning when getting dressed. I pulled out a pair of capris that are many years old but I wore back when thinner and in jr sizes. Put them on and they were loose! Last time I tried them on a few weeks ago he said they were bursting at the seams and I had an awful camel toe. This morning loose and no camel toe! I immediately went into a

Song and dance jumping up and down with just my capris on saggy skin and boobies jiggling everywhere. It was that amazing! He is that horrified too!! It's gonna be a good day baby!!

Lol about the camel toe!!! That is Awesome and congratulations!

Omg I do think I had alot of my drinking almost out of my system by 22. I've always thought that if u can die for your country at 18 u could at least have a drink.

Amen! I agree with this:)

I had been getting into bars at 19 so my 21st was no big deal! I was the only one of my friends who could get served at 16 too. Id always have to go in to buy the beer. I dont understand how back then I looked older and now people say I look 10 years younger than i am!

I'd take that compliment and run w it!!! Being a smaller size though makes you look younger. Maybe that's why;)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
