Hope everyone is doing well post surgery I have a question though how does everyone feel. I'm drinking various fluids no problems Soups etc all good. Gas is slowly coming out and is still painful. Getting up and down is hard but my stomach feels like I have done 1000000 sit ups and have a stitch from running is this normal?

My biggest issue now is not being able to get up and down easily. I still require someone to help pull me up. I have one incision that was sutured to a fat fold that is killing me. Drain hole has all but stopped leaking. I am having issues with anything going down, everything just tastes strange. I am trying a different Protein Shake today to try to get close to the Protein counts. Regarding gas, it is still in there and the more I walk the better I feel, but I tire out real easy. I am just 1 day home from hospital, take care and keep sipping and walking!

Ha, yes that ride was I am sure funny for others to watch. The poor guy that escorted me out was very nice but it took me three attempts to get into the car, finally my husband put the top down and I was able to get in and slide down the back of the seat. I am good walking, standing and even laying down, just getting up and down is torture. Yesterday was better, hope today is even better. Today I am tooting along as my dad would say, relieving the gas pains.

I tried a little pudding yesterday with Protein Powder, very heavy. So I tried applesauce, was able to stomach about 1 tablespoon. Just not hungry. It is a chore to make myself think about eating. How about you, what are you trying to eat? Anything more successful?

Let me know how ur day goes :)

Has anyone else within the first 2 weeks of post op had a hard time eating Jello? Out of everything within my liquid diet I can barely eat jello even when I chew it well I'm instantly full after 3 bites.

I tried jello at the hospital, did not sit well. I just tried some applesauce. Was only able to get down 1 tablespoon.

Hi. Had my surgery on Tuesday' date=' got home last night about 6. I actually gained 13 pounds while there! Gas I assume. I does help to walk but you get tired easily so don't walk too far. They pulled the drain tube before I left. The pain on that side is the worst. It just me 30 mi to walk from my chair in the living around the corner to the toilet and back. Most of the tie is trying to get up and down again. Not at all hungry. Ate two bites of SF pudding, and was full. Almost 1/3 down with Water. Wish I could just chug that thing! Does anyone one incision that hurts worse than the others? Procedure done lapriscoply.[/quote']

My surgery was Thursday and I also gained 13lbs from surgery. I expected it but I don't have to like it. Lol. I tried to eat a half container of yogurt with Protein powder but a few bites was all I managed. I am really liking chicken broth, though. My incisions don't hurt but I have a heavy achey feeling just beneath my breasts. It only bothers me when I walk. And I'm pretty tired, I need a nap! :-)

Rest, rest, rest! You just had your insides rearranged! Just remember to work on fluids at first, protein will come in a few days. Glad you are on the other side now! Speedy recovery to you.

Thank you! I took a nap this afternoon and did some reading in the sunshine on my deck a couple times. I'm keeping a food and drink log and I have to say it's not looking good. I think it was a little too ambitious for my first days home. I'm going to scrap it for a few days and concentrate on getting fluids and rest. :-)

Not really. :( am not hopeful that the procedure worked. Takes awhile for the nerves to die though. Won't take care of the leg pain anyway, so I'm stuck. Glad you enjoyed the sun for awhile. Good for the soul!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
