I don't want to be scared!

Recommended Posts

Last few days all i been able to think about is all the things that can go wrong during and after surgery. I came across a forum that was talking about the risk and it really put some fear in me. From this day on....I refuse to read anymore horror stories and try to focus on the good that will come from having this surgery. My mind has been all over the place :/

I am feeling the same way too, but I try and think of all the positive benefits afterwards. The first five days on liquids, I had multiple nightmares. I dreamt about every horror killer there is. It was probably related to stress, anxiety & saying good bye to big portions of good food. I'm a little better now and excited that surgery is next week.

What you are feeling is normal. I work in medicine and really questioned if I was doing the right thing.

Remember other than sites like this, the internet is scewed for negativity. People who had a bad experience in anything want to be heard. Yes things can happen but if you review this site you will see that most of us did great. It is major surgery so having realistic expectations is important.

Good Luck to both of you!!! I am sure you will do fine!!

Thanks ya'll...i know some fear is normal but i have been consumed with fear. Today is much better though. I already had my first visit with my surgeon. The next two weeks i will have the psychological evaluation and visit with the dietitian Then it will be submitted to insurance for approval. The nurse said surgery could be late March or April. I don't have to do the 3 or 6 month diet. Trying my best to stay positive :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
