They just called, still getting all the information...

It's $1,500 for the hospital.. and the band has a warranty, so they're trying to get in touch with whoever about that.

She said the $1,500 is due at 'pre-op'

PRE-OP?! So I have to go back down 2 more times? ARGH!

I'm so upset.

Laura-sorry about all the BS you are dealing with! That bites...but like everyone else said, once it is fixed you will really be able to start whoooshing downwards on the scale. Look at it this way, the weight you HAVE lost is a bonus. :D

Michelle-I totally agree with you on the part where you said that you would start eating again out of the defeated feeling and gain it back....isn't it great that we can't do that anymore! That is the best part of all...we are losing the weight permenantly!!

Pamela-I am anxiously awaiting tonights episode!! I can not wait to find out who won the last HOH competition!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and congrats about being so close to onederland....its like a dream coming into reality...

Everyone have a great evening!

I can't freakin believe your story! OMG. I am so sorry your going through all this. Just think, you've lost more w/ a leak than I have w/o one. :faint: But the $1500 is so much. Your will be in our thoughts and prayers. When is it? Keep us posted, and feel free to come here and vent as needed.

Hang in there honey, we are all here for you!

Laura.. so sorry to hear your news. I'm sure the band manufacturer will stand by their product and make it right for you.

Mel..thoughts and prayers headed your way for a positive outcome on your case.

Just got back from the gym. I did 30 minutes on the stationary bike. DH did the treadmill. Now I can relax and hit the hot tub this evening. We had to turn the furnace on this morning. Temp was 60 in the house and with Ethan coming over, I didn't want it to be too chilly for him, but dang.. I hate turning the furnace on in September!!! I usually don't turn it on until my fingertips turn blue, but the priorities have changed with the grandbaby in the house.

Have to be up early again tomorrow to greet Ethan at 8. I took some pics of him dusting and "swiffing" for me today. I'll try and post them later.

TTFN..

Morning violets

First and foremost. Laura-my prayers are with you, but look how well you have done so far, so imagine how great you are going to do when you are fixed. And they found it early, I met someone who had problems and ended up going 2 years before they found out what it was. Plus you have our support.

Well, dd is still in bad shape, but I think it is a cold. How would I know this? for the last 2 days I've been pb'ing on everything, last night the thought of tuna was gagging me, I went out with an old friend, I had 1 mozz stick and a bite of chicken tender and 1 drink I went home because my mom called. dd was in bad shape - i got home and said to her I feel like i'm burning up, she said it was just stuffy (she is a nurse). within the hour I was on fire. I had gone into my hope chest and took out every winter blanket I had, my ears hurt, my throat, and now my legs ache from tensing up from the fever I had. I got up, took a dose of children's motrin and went back to sleep for 20 mins. I have an 8am appt with my nutritionist then i'm coming back home and going to bed before work. YUCK, I can't afford to be sick! I am going to stop and get some theraflu, I know I can't swollow a pill right now, I can hardly sip Water. I hate fall allergies/and this 1 day 90 the next 65, no wonder why everyone is sick around me, including me.

but, between that and TOM coming early, it sure does explain why i've been so drained this past week.

Judy, cold here too, I refuse to turn mine on until Thanksgiving, but I will start my gas fireplaces earlier, they will heat my entire house this time of year. I have one in my back room off my kitchen and 1 in my bedroom and a wood fireplace in the living rooms. It is actually nice because we have heat when we lose power in the winter

Morning Violets~

Jenn~ I hope you feel better! Sux to be sick.

Laura~ Keep posting and keep us posted. I think your story took the wind out of our sails a bit. What happens to one Violet...kinda happens to all of us. We are here for you! I mean that.

Terry~ I miss you!

Kat~ Hope your feeling better. Did the meds kick in? More importantly, did you lose any more weight from not eating? I know, bad joke...just trying to turn some lemons into lemonaide! xo

Judy~ It is nice to have you back!

TracyK~ I am soooo not happy about the outcome, but I think you are. I wanted anyone but those two, but can't always get what you want.

Ok, I went a bought a nice digital scale, so I can track my loss like you all. I am excited! This morning, after the shower I weighed and it was 252.? Can't remember what came after the point. Even though it is different from the doctors a bit (I doubt I lost 6 more pounds in 2 days), I will use it to track the loss. The good news is that on this scale I FINALLY LOST MORE THAN 23 #!!! So, using my home scale, I've lost 28 pounds! WOW! lol, I crack myself up.

Going to Susanne's this weekend! Have a nice weekend everyone! Check in w/ you all on Sunday!

Hi everyone, i was 214 at the dr today, which is 14lbs less than 7 weeks ago, so that averages out to 2lbs a week. I told them I was not ready for a fill, getting close, but with being sick it would not be good anyway. So Oct 16 I get a fill. My nutritionist was very pleased with my loss and said I was doing better than the average. 15lbs and i'm in Onederland. I can do that. Get better this weekend and get it together next week

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
