Lunasa - You've done it again, dear girl. I can't tell you how grateful I am that you are a part of this group. This was a very powerful post. I hope you don't mind, but i'm going to start cutting and pasting your wisdom into my LBT journal. (Too hard to find in this monster thread!) You are so right about everything you said. I assume these concepts are derived from NLP? ...or just a distillation of all your readiing, research and life experience? I just love it.

OKAY PEOPLE. LISTEN UP. I FINALLY SAW A NEW NUMBER ON THE scale THIS MORNING! AFTER 17 DAYS OF BOUNCING BETWEEN 201 AND 203....FINALLY.... 200!!! Can i see some dancing bananas????

All of the above Terri but mostly what I've learned & come to realise is thru trial & error...Life lessons. I knew that to loose 100lbs was a extrodinary thing for me to have achieved but was curious about why it wasn't enough for me to hold on to it. I knew there was something still "wrong" I just couldn't put my finger on it so I began "the big dig"...I feel very privledged to be part of your journal...thank you..xx

Terri

Congrats. I am again stuck but major bloating and cramps this am - so i hope that is part of if. I will have a breakdown if I stay at this point until June 28th, when my next follow up visit is.

I am so glad to see that a fill helped you. Just think in a day or so you can say you are under 200!!!!

Teach - you should be our thread mascot!! You have not broken one single solitary rule since you started on this journey, have you? Seriously, you are incredible.

Rvingdi - I wondered when you were gonna show up!! I'm glad you've joined us!! How's Florida? How long do you think ya'll will stay there? It's gettin' pretty hot! I'd be heading for the hills, right about now if I had your mobility! (I LOVE Colorado!)

Areellady - Welcome! Biking is so great but it always, no matter what I do, makes my right leg go numb after a short while. I love the recumbant bikes at the gym...like sitting in an easy chair while you exercise! Do you have a nice area to ride in? I've heard that Idaho is beautiful! Lucky you!

Hi Terry,

Can I ask you a question about your fill too!!

Ok, after the fill, did you have that 'fullness' feeling like we all had after surgery? I'm told its where the vagus nerve stimulates the brain to tell it your full, and with out us actually being ul (pouch capasity).

I guess thats the optimum feeling , of satiety, and not feeling hungry, or ravenous, but actually not being able to eat much, if that makes sence. I know quite a few people say it takes them 3 fills, so Im curious if the 1st one gives you that 'feeling'?

Have a great Saturday :)

Sara xx

Thanks girls...I can have the liquid as well as crushed advil. Fiorocet....I think I have that too!

It is a BEAUTIFUL day in Long Island. As yuck as I feel....I'm going to take my son to see "Spiderman" at a local farm (it's a skinny teenager in a Spidey costume!) We'll see, he's been asking to go BUT seeing those things upclose and personal usually freaks him out! lol.....I'll pick up some fresh produce while I'm there AND they have an awesome juice bar.

No, it's not like it was after surgery...not that intense. So far I haven't really noticed any difference from those few days pre-fill except that I'm not *quite* as hungry. We'll see how today goes. I start solid food on Monday (Wow!! What's THAT?) and I can't wait! That will be the true test.

Thanks for the congrats...feels good to see a new number!

JENN - Take it easy, girlfriend. Stress is a weight staller, too. Extra Vitamin C will help battle the higher cortisol levels. How'd the interview go at dbf's employer? Did I miss that post?

Terry

I thought the interview went great, I will find out in the beginning of the week. If all else fails, I have a job at Home Depot, not great pay but more than unemployment and it is a job until the perfect thing comes along. I just have a great feeling that railroad is going to call and offer me the job so I won't have to go.

So how is this, I went to do my drug test this am and I got there and couldn't pee.... so home I am to meet the mouse people and then back to try and pee again.

I have been told by physicians and the obesity center that I will not feel hunger with the lap band, they said if I do it's that I don't have my band full enough. So tell me why do I hear so many of you say you're hungry???? I'm curious. I am to be done in May or June. Is it cravings??? or actually stomach growling hunger?

Just Curious

Good Morning! Welcome to RvingDi! Nice to have you!

Well, I think I'm going to try and attack the treadmill today. I don't know how far I'll make it, but I'm feeling pretty good...no Migraine, no cramps and I'm not fatigued...Maybe I'll be able to start an exercise challenge for May after all!!!!

Wish me luck! I'll let you know how it goes!

Gonna go run some errands...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
