Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi

Glad to see Tracy back, and doing well, hope everyone else is as well. We have a snag here---took DH to his cardiology appointment at 2 today, and I just come in from the hospital-----alone, looks like he will be here or possibly moved to Albuquerque and in until some time next week. Back when they did his open heart surgery, they had to cut down the size of his heart, the back flow of blood had enlarged it. Now it is sending faulty signals. He is bouncing from Atrial Flutter to Atrial Fibrulation---which require opposite treatment, and meds. So he is in, and also on blood thinners, which the gastro is wigging out over because he had a MASSIVE GI bleed following surgery. They hope to thin the blood, sedate him, and pop him with the paddles, and shock him into normal rythm. Until then----I am outta here. Will take my laptop and see if I can pick up a WIFI signal. Hugs and happy healing to all.

All prayers appreciated!

Kat

Yes, but your body has no choice. With nothing solid going in nothing solid can come out. You know?

I was banded the day before yours and I also did not need any meds. 3 days out just a litttle soreness on my incisions, no deep down pain though. I am happy your back, get rest, your body needs it to heal. Take care.

Hi All!!

Just spent ages writing a post on here and the web went down at home and it didnt save!!

Kat I am so sorry to hear about your husband, you poor thing, you must be so worried, Im sure once they re regulate the synus rythum the AF will go back to a normal rythum, please let us know how you and your husband are xxxx :)

Pam I hope your ok, are you in pain with the infected port site, I hope that the anitibiotics clear it up in a couple of days, and it will heal quickly :(

Terry I think you are the 1st to be 'filled' Im not having mine until the 12th of May. Please tell us how it feels etc, I'm not particulary looking forward to mine (Im pain shy at the best of times!)

Tracy sounds like youve done really well post op, and everything went smoothly, dont over do it now :D take like real slowly for a couple of days :biggrin1:

Weight loss after the band (pre fill) Ive seen a lot of you talk about this in the last couple of pages, it does slow down dramatically after the 1st week (especially those of us that didnt do a strict pre diet) Ive kept a diary of my weight loss for the 1st month, I'll weigh in again on Monday (as that is my official day, and hey I might have lost another Lb..wayyheyy who knows :P says the eternal optimist!!)

WARNING: This post contains discussion of binge-inducing foods... read at your own risk:

I just discovered a previously unrealized source of food cravings -- COUPONS! :)

There I am, innocently sitting at the kitchen table, sipping my Water and clipping coupons for today's foray to the grocery store, when lo and behold I turn the page and what JUMPS up and catches me totally unawares but a (sorry girls for what I'm about to type!) BEN & JERRY'S ad for a new flavor of ice cream -- CINNAMON BUN! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Cinnamon Buns are my kryptonite! I absolutely have no power to avoid them. And now some evil genius has put them into ice cream???????? Well, I turned the page as quickly as I could, but the image has been burned into my brain! And from that point on, all I noticed in the coupon books was how luscious and tasty and inviting all the food is in there! I honestly had NEVER noticed that before!!! YIKES and OH MY!

Seriously, I never noticed all that. Wow. We really are bombarded at every turn. No wonder Americans are so fat! It's like telling people not to smoke but dangling cigarrettes in their faces 24/7, or alcoholics not to drink... on tv, radio, print, magazines... it's cruel & unusual punishment!

And the weekends are ALWAYS my hardest days to be "good" on any food regimen... and today & tomorrow will be no exception... I think it's because the routine of the work week is gone and things are so free-form and more casual and we're out and about, so we tend to eat out whenver the mood strikes us v. at regular intervals (which helps me a lot during the week). For instance, we're about to leave for the city park where my ds's jazz band is playing at a children's festival, and then after that I drop off dd @ the stable, then grocery shopping, THEN home... so we'll leave @ 10:45am and return ??.. probably around 3 or so??... so I'm trying to think what I can pack w/me to have to eat so I'm not starving and cheating by the time I get home... phew... it's hard!

Can you gals/guys relate???

Ok, got that vent out of my system. Thanks for listening, everyone! Have a GOOD DAY!

Hey Everyone,

Kat- You know you have an amazing support system here of cyber friends who will send you love and positive energy during this time. Keep your head up, stay strong. :)

Sara- WELCOME BACK!!! I hope you have a relaxing weekend planned! I know busy weeks...uugghh! Sara, I got some great antibiotics and am already on the mend! Thanks!

Tracy- hope your burping and farting your way to feeling better!

It is gonna be 102 here today, so we are going for our long walk now! Something funny: We have organized a big Bowling Day for today, and I woke up this morning and said, "Oh yeah, I can't bowl." My doctor says nothing over 5 pounds for 6 weeks...the funny thing is was this was my idea and now we have a bunch of people coming! I just forgot!

<p>

who else has been banded on 4/12 or around there & how much weight have you lost?</p> <p>I did 1 month of managed weight loss (Fruits & Veggies & exercise) lost 5 lbs</p> <p>then got approved for lap band & did 1 week of liquids, lost 7 lb. </p> <p>I was banded n 4/12 & have only lost 2 pounds-- in two weeks of being on full liquids???? WHATS UP with THAT????</p> <p>i really expected to have lost more at this point.</p> <p>Just wondering what others have done.
</p> <p> </p> <p>Hey tinybelle,</p> <p> </p> <p>I was banded on 4/12 also...I have been having feminine issues and retaining TONS of Fluid since April 5. I am only down 5 lbs. since the day of surgery (down 30 overall since Feb 28). My hubby was banded the same day and yesterday was down 12 lb since surgery...I get discouraged, but I keep telling myself...</p> <p> </p> <p>"I'll never get as big as my highest weight again!!! I may fluctuate a few pounds here and there, but it's a downhill slope from here!!!!!"</p> <p> </p> <p>We have a tool in place that we have paid a price for (physically and via the wallet). We're going to use that tool and we have tons of other people here at LBT that are going to support us!! Don't despair...just know that the weight is coming off! It has been banished from returning!!!! It's a decision we have to make!<img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/decision.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Decision" smilieid="226" class="inlineimg" /> </p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/clap2.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Clap2" smilieid="217" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/wl/welldoneclap.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Welldoneclap" smilieid="376" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/clap2.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Clap2" smilieid="217" class="inlineimg" /></p>

Hello househuntress,

I'm glad to know that you are feeling good:biggrin1: I have a question, How is it that you are getting a fill before the 90 days, that the Doc. says:confused: I need to know, I'm feeling hungry already, but with the doc. I'll have to wait till July 2nd for the first fill:help:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
