omg I missed that post.. duct taped for her prom dress? LOLOLOL. I wore a dress that wouldn't stay on my boobs, we ended up pinning it to the strapless bra.. was hell to take off when I got home.

Tracy.. I saw your band pictures!! That is so cool. Do all doctors do that?? When I go to my follow up I want to get copies of mine!

Laura: I don't know.. but I remember spider on another thread asking for hers.. so I figured.. what the heck.. they do have a camera in there RIGHT?? I was really intersted to see my liver and to see its size... all the yellow fat is gross and I wish he could of just gotten rid of it, but that will be my job I guess........ I guess I also wanted proof that I REALLY did this INSANE thing called WLS! but I feel so relieved knowing that this will be the last time I weigh this much........

I think I'm going to try and get some more calories in tonight....... he told me to chew NOTHING this week.. I go for my post op appointment on Friday morning.

The real test will be work tomorrow!~

Sending Rick PRAYERS!

Tracy, Tracy, TRACY!!!!

What the heck are you thinkin' girl??? You shouldn't be moping floors that soon after surgery!!!!! Heck, I'm trying to milk mine for at least a month and a half. "Oooooooooooo honey...those big ole cuts hurt sooooooooo bad. Can you mop and dust and wash and wax and dry and clean for me???" "I promise I'll do it when I feel better. Real soon. Promise" Course I can't show him my incisions cause I can't find them anymore. Cept for the one between my boobs and we all know how well hidden THAT one is!!!

I'm heading to the jewelry store tomorrow morning to pick up my second angel charm. And only 7# more til my next one. I should have 8 when I'm done and maybe, just maybe 10. I called my friend Kathy who had surgery Friday. She is doing better today. Finally got the dry heaves to stop. BUT.. she called the emergency number for the doc and nobody ever returned the call. I told her to call tomorrow and complain!!! She's going to stay another night at the hotel before making the 4 hour trip back tomorrow. She loved the name Shrinking Violets and wants to be part of the group, but doesn't have her computer back from her son, the fix it man, yet.

Tracy.. are we going to start a new post May 1st and title it SHRINKING VIOLETS?????

Tracy

you are going to do great! give it a few days and you will be down quicky.

Today I had the same menu as I did yesterday, and let me tell you, I am glad I tried mushies 2 days early - because if I was at school tomorrow and had to deal with the bathroom issues I had today.....that would have been really bad.

OH... Tracy, I raked last weekend remember? that was 5 days out, I didn't rake like I normally do, but soft raked to clean up the last dog mess. My 12 year old is fantastic and helped me bend and carry stuff, today she helped me transplant outside and move patio blocks.

On a happy note, my puppy is inside hanging with us and being so much calmer, he knows how much trouble he is in. LOL

Ok Tracy.. No problem... I'll start one on Tuesday morning when the month of April becomes history. Hard to believe, isn't it??? Time just flies by. I'm getting the last of my Water in before I head to bed. One more week of full liquids and then I get to go to soft foods!! It's been almost 3 weeks since my surgery and I can honestly say I have not ever had one instant of regret. It's the best thing I could have ever done for myself.

I wanted to share something that I made tonight and for those on the NONChew stage... you might be interested.. also it will help get your calories up......... Now I know it sounds weird, but it really IS worth a try...

It is called Mock Danish... and has been a staple of my low carb diet life (since 1999) although today was the first time I actually counted the calories

there are several variations and you can really adjust it to suit your taste..

this is what I made tonight.

MOCK DANISH

2 oz's regular cream cheese (2 carbs, 200 calories)

1 med egg (.6 carb ... I don't know calories)

1 dash of cinnimon

1 generous splash of SF french vanilla Syrup

2 packets of splenda

Heat cream cheese in bowl for 20-30 seconds

Add egg and other ingredients and beat, whisk, mix til smooth

Pop in microwave for 1 minute, (this will leave the center soupy and you can either stir it up or micro a bit longer till it is firmer)

You can add any amount of tastes.. cook more, cook less, add cocoa and more sweetner, add pumpkin pie spice, less cream cheese, more egg.. it is really versatile and it is filling.......

Tonight I left it a bit soupy so that I didn't have to chew anything... a lot of low carbers eat this for Breakfast, but tonight it was my dinner and I only finished 3/4 of it.

I will say that I gained 3 pounds of Fluid at the hospital but today I weighed in the same as I did before surgery... 253.2....... I would love it if I could lose a pound a day like the rest of you.. even if it only lasted a couple weeks......

Tracy, Not only am I scared to eat too much too, so that I'm only taking in 300-500 calories per day, and not enough Protein I'm sure, but I weighed in on the day of my surgery at 253.8! Just a bit more than you did. :biggrin1:

I can't wait to see how much I've lost when I go for my appt on Tuesday. I doubt I've lost near what many lose at first seeing that my doctor only put me on Clear Liquids for a day before surgery and 3 days after surgery. I'm on mushies/purees now....I had a 1/4 cup of low fat cottage cheese. OMG it was SO yummy and 14 grams of protein!!!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
