Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Jenn- One of my first mushie meals was veggatarian refried Beans, w/ a little cheese melted on top (all in micro). Or a 1/2 avocado, mmmm. I do love mexican food so this was a real treat for me. Plan some thing great, and you will really enjoy it!!!!:hungry: But remember, your eyes will be SOOOO much bigger than your tummy.

Terri- Your scrambled eggs w/ cheese and salsa sounds great! That is my kinda dinner. I went to a fund raiser buffet tonight and ate turkey slices, swiss, rolled up dipped in ranch. I had watermelon, kiwi and strawberries for dessert, while everyone else ate casadias, huge onion rings, Pasta and cake. I didn't miss anything they were having. My meal was full of Protein, lighter, and just as satisfying! I've been wondering, where do you get the DiVinci syrups from? I would love to try 'em, so many people have spoken so highly of 'em. Are they online or available in stores?

I thought about Tracy all day, that is so weird. I don't know her at all, yet, in so many ways, she knows (and you all too) me better than any one else. MUCH LOVE AND POSITIVE ENERGY TRACY!!!

It's weird how doctors are so different in their approach with the lapband. My surgeon only had me on Clear Liquids for 1 day before the surgery, and 2 days after the surgery. Then I get to start on mushies for 2 weeks, advancing to regular food slowly thereafter....So far I've felt no restriction with the liquids. Although I don't guzzle, it feels like I could and I'd be ok....I hope I really DO have restriction! However I don't feel all that hungry either....

So far I haven't had to take any pain meds besides the children's tylenol....I may take some Lortab before I go to bed to ensure a full night sleep though!

Good luck to those of you who are to be banded tomorrow!!! ;)

Hi!

Just checking in to see if we heard from any of the newly bandeds---and I see we have---hope the rest are following along as well!!! WooHooo welcome to bandland!!!!

Pamela, you can check out the syrups on the website www.davincigourmet.com they have tons of SF flavors---I have used several, and am hooked!!! They ship quickly, fairly inexpensively, and I have never had anything come in broken. I am a huge toffee addict, I love the English Toffee, and the Caramel. The Dulce Ce Leche is similar, but reminds me of the caramel used for caramel apples at Halloween.

I too love Mexican food, and had enchiladas as my first food, refried Beans as my first mushie....still it is the easiest of all food for me to eat.

Sorry talking about those things to liquid dieters, is referred to as "food porn"----I'll behave!

My 2 year old granddaughter has croup. Poor little darlin' sounds so horrible! When she coughs and makes that horrid barking sound she looks so confused as to why that sound is coming from her!!! Then she very meekly says "scuse me" she cracks me up!!! The best with her lately is when she wants to go to Fudruckers for a hamburger---do not ask a child who just turned 2 to say Fudruckers!!!

Well ladies, I hope all of you are hanging in there---I am hoping the rest of our new banders are ok----will check on all of you in the morning. sleep Well!

Kat

Blah blah blah.. Fudruckers?! LOL

Oh this food coma. I'm starting to get very hungry!!!!!!!

I love fudrucker's burgers.. we don't have one around here, but we would go there when we lived in New Mexico.

What do you put da vinci syrups in? I have seen sugar-free Syrup things like this before, but don't understand what they're for. I dont like flavor things in my drink, so besides like maybe coffee/cocoa what foods are they good for? Past couple nights I've had a HORRIBLE time sleeping. I think it has to do with fiance being a jerk about me watching tv in bed. ALL OF A SUDDEN he complains he can't sleep when I have the tv on.. but I can't sleep without the tv on. So I've been leaving when he is going to sleep and going back in to watch tv after he's out.. but by then I'm occupied watching tv in another room or getting on the computer.. blah.

Hey all, we should hear from Tracy today. Can't wait to hear how you are!

Thanks for all the good stuff, I love grits, My dad grew up in SC and raised us on southern food and that is one of my favorite.

eggs and Salsa, I didn't think about that for this diet but one of my favorite again, I LOVE mexican food, and refried Beans too

Can't wait til sunday, it all sounds good

Kat - my son has croup, it is horrible, he has asthma on top of it, his first attack I thought it was an asthma attack. He started getting them at 1yr old and for the first 6 months, we were at the hospital getting rescue treatments . Now when he starts that croup bark during the day I give him his steriods to prevent those trips. It is a scary thing - and something they have until they grow out of.

Laura - I gained 3lbs this week too and did not put it back on. I am drinking lots of Water - broth, blah blah blah - but I feel like I am a little dehydrated. On a happy note, I didn't do anything different and lost the 3lbs this am.

I know this may sound silly, but I have a toe ring, and I have already tightened it 2x's since last monday, and this morning it is so big again it is turned and working its way off my toe. Kind of crazy how my feet and toes are shirnking, but I've had the same ring for 4 years and it has never moved.

Well today I'm a little more sore than I was yesterday - which I was expecting. Took some liquid Tylenol, so we'll see what that does for me. I don't feel hungry - just some head hunger when I see food on T.V. I'm trying my best to get my liquids in....Taking Gax-X and been playing the tuba from both ends! LOL

Funny - since my surgery, my hubby seems more supportive than he did before the surgery. Weird, but very welcoming and comforting to me.

Didn't sleep great last night - ended up in the recliner in the living room because I can't sleep flat on my back, on my tummy, or on either side just yet. I woke up several times though the night, but I feel pretty refreshed so far this morning. I'm sure I'll be taking a nap (or a few of them) throughout the day! :)

It's good to be on the losing side finally! :clap2:

Congrats!! How awesome is that?!?! I haven't taken any actual measurements...I think I'll get hubby to do that today! I haven't seen a size 16 since high school! I'm shooting for a 28 for a short term goal. I've already picked out the pants I'm going to use as my "goal."

I'm still waiting on a bunch of swelling and feminine issues to be resolved before I even think about weighing...My feet and ankles and hands are huge and I don't want the disappointment of weighing with all this extra Fluid on me. Have a dr. appt this afternoon...maybe I'll get some resolution! In ER last week, they said I was anemic, hemoglobin was 9.1 and I was dehydrated. Been bleeding since April 5th - before surgery and still going strong with no sign of stopping...OB put me on birth control pills and said the surgery caused the disruption...funny that it was there BEFORE surgery...called my PCP and she is going to see me today...I fired my OB!!!

UGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Thanks Christy! I'm sure they will get the bottom of things. I'm sure you have lost too! But don't get on that scale until you are ready! I too get disappointed if I don't see what I think should be there.

Your dr. will weight you today when you go and you might be surprised at what you find dispite it all.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
