I had REAL food tonight! (which is allowed on my post-op) I had about 1-1/2 oz of baked fish, about 2 Tbsp of mashed potatoes and 4 bites of canned green Beans. I chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed!!!

Terry,

Real food? That must be nice. I am looking forward to some tuna or some potato...mmm

I have to ask, were you scared? I mean, the first swallow? I am a little scared about the first few real bites. I have read so much about PB'ing, sliming, and getting stuck that I was worried, just a bit. Maybe this only happens after a fill?

** Banded 4 days **

Hi everyone! After my last positive post (day 2 after banding) I have had a rougher time with recovery. That evening I had some vomiting and have had general naseua ever since. I feel like the day after you have the flu, you know where you still feel sick but the worst is over. I am also very tired. Today was the first day I ventured beyond liquids. I had a 1/2 of a fruit smoothie for Breakfast and about a 1/2 cup of Soup for dinner. I am not hungry at all I am only eating so I can hopefully get some energy.

Is anyone else having issues with prolonged nasuea?

Terri - I can't believe you had fish already!! Good for you!

Tracy- it's so late in the day now, that I don't know if anything I could say, would help. Be easy on yourself. This month is a trying time for all of us. We, unlike they, can not turn to food to comfort us in the day. You are to be admired for refusing KFC. I for one am quite proud of your sensible decision!!! I myself, am here, instead of there, because they, are having steak dinner tonight.

Congratulations to all who have been banded.... if I have read correctly no one has scheduled an.. " ohhh I made a huge mistake -take this thing out surgery ", so far... or have they? I know I have not!! Hurray! for all of us so far, we are doing fantastic!!!!!

Is everyone updating the page of weight info. that Tracy set up?

=']l/lk zx'/jrre

........Mazie typed that just on her way to bed..(sorry mommy had to keep it).

wow, we are all doing so great. Real food... I can't wait... my doctor has me on "full" liquids until the 19th. I am on Cream Soups, Jello, sf pudding, yogurt. I feel like my twin 1 year olds. Maybe they know more than I do. Last night my family had chinese food, so I ventured to the land of EGG DROP Soup. Wow, after a week of Clear Liquids, a taste explosion. Now, I had an interesting thought.... Last night was the first night all the port pain, and gas was worth it. I figured out one thing in life as a fat guy.. it's been more years than I wish to count where I just realized I haven't tasted food. I just consum mass amounts because it's there, becaused I payed for it ( I guess doggie bags were not in my fat mind! hello, I can eat it twice if I bring some home, what a concept) and maybe, just maybe this food would never appear in front of me again.

I never would have been able to tell you that a half of a 6 oz yogurt could fill me up but yes... we will all make it.

and this board is a big part of the reason why.

Happy Easter,

Pat

That's what is so amazing right-Pat? A little goes a long way- I had heard it but, went on blind faith that it was true, and possible. Eat a small portion and feel full/ it's true! thank goodness, it is true! There is hope that this will work!!

Shineon- I'm sorry about your problem... you must have posted while I was saying night, night to Mazie. I was just saying, we were all doing so well, and not knowing you were having a difficult time. Have you been speaking to doctor about this?? I hope that you are all better ASAP. I'm sorry that this is uncomfortable for you. I hope doc. can do something. Are you getting enough Protein?

Dave,

When ever you want... just remember that caffeine is a diarettic ( that's not spelled correctly) it cannot count as your liquid for the day.

Ok folks.. I just got in from my last dip in the hot tub before surgery. Any estimates on when I can get back in there and soak up the heat??? It's soooooo nice when there is snow on the ground (I know it's April, but somebody messed up!!) to be able to sit in the hot tub and look up at the stars.

I am stressed...

Hang in there Tracy. All these things will take care of themselves they always do. I am a worrier and worry about EVERYTHING! But I'm learning if I cant' do anything about it just let it go. Breath, and let it go.

One big thing I learned in the past few months, really right after my physc eval, is that my dh is my trigger. How about that, after 17 yrs of marriage he is the one that sets me off more than anything else. Last month I came home from work with a new motto; "NO MORE CRAP!" :heh: I walked in, sat down and announced that I was tired and that I not taking any more crap from him, the cats or anyone else and then asked him about his day.

I did the same thing for sveral days and guess what!?! Less crap! I went to work and announced the same thing. Now when I get that look, at work everyone looks at me and say I know, no more crap and even my dh letup with all the stress he causes me. I just give the look and he knows.

Life has become easier. He may or may not be going with me on Friday or pick me up from the hospital and I'm okay with that as long as he and everyone else who has negative energy just keep it to themselves. Now all I have to say is I'm not have'n it!!!

I don't have children so I don't know how it might work but I'm sure you'll find a way.

Just don't stress, that's what gotten most of us in the shape we are in.

I have to remind myself of this everyday. I'm bust'n loose from all bad habits including anything that continues to trigger me.

Do what you can and let the rest go, just breathe.

lol:girl_hug:

Teachlady, my doctor allows hot tubs and pools after 4 weeks (if it is your personal pool) and 6 weeks for public pools. Sounds like a wonderful evening!

Well it looks like I have a new flock. Kristy since you asked, "Whatsoever you do do so for the glory of God." If you are doing this so that you can give him the glory for it. If you are doing this so that you will learn to depend more on Him. If you are doing this that you can share His strengh that you gain later. Then my answer would be it is not sin. If you He led you to do this and you did not, that would be sin. My wife and I were on the mission field for 14 years. I could not have made it physically in the condition I am now. If I ever return, I hope I am not the size I am now. "So we walk by faith not by sight." I am not what I was neither am I what I am gong to be, because He began a good work in me and will not be finished until he is ready.

OK there is my Sunday evening sermon.

It is good to have you guys out there to help lift me up. This is not going to be easy. However, we are to hlep carry each others burdens, so lets stick together and lift each other up to Him who can and will carry each of us through this.

Thank you, Phil! I appreciate the encouragement AND the confirmation! He is risen...that's the ONLY reason I want to have for ANYTHING I do! That's what I am working on now!:)

food for thought...I think this pre-op diet is doing alot for me "psychologically" as well as physically...I'm glad I don't have to be coming to this realization (that food has been an idol for me) AFTER the surgery. I'm glad I'm beginning to actually deal with the idea and work to fix it now!!

Well, I'm off to sleepy land! Good night all!

Hi All

I hope you had a blessed Easter! I was banded on 4/5 and am feeling really good. I am a little concerned about how much I am eating. The hosp gave me these shot glasses that are 1 oz a piece. I have been having three glasses of shake for each mea and taking 30 minis to drink the three glasses. I have only Water and Isopure between meals. Is this enough? I don't really feel hungry just wondering about nutrition. I will call my doc in the morning but I thought I would throw that out there.

Oh..Happhy Easter everyone!

Those who are healing.. my prayers are with you that it is a speedy and not such a ruff road..

Those who are waiting.. we are almost there!

SHINE ON.. did your doc give you anything for vomit/nausea? I have also heard that a Dramamean(sp) patch has worked for many others. Since I am such a bad spelling its the meds. that you take if you get car sick.

I am sorry that you are having a difficult time.. you are in my prayers tonight when I lay down for bed! Keep us posted as to how things are going!

I am so sorry I missed your post, I hope that things are working out better and you are doing ok. You were so hlepful for me and gave me such great advice when I was in such a rotten place and I felt so much better after I got it all out.

Take a deep breath and you will be ok. I promise.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
