I just drank 10 ounces of magnesium citrate and am waiting for it to take effect. Tomorrow is the big surgery day - my first real surgery in my life. I am nervous but going through with it. Reading your posts about post-surgery makes me feel better because it helps me understand what to expect. Did you have to have a surgical drain? How long did you have to wear it?

I had my drain from surgery date (Monday) through Saturday. As soon as the drain was out, I felt much better, I didn't have much pain to begin with, but it was just having to lug that thing around and pin it up into shirts was a bit of a drag. I asked my Doctor as to why some doctors don't use it, and some take it out before one leaves the hospital and why he leaves his in so long. He said he leaves his in longer so he can monitor the color of the drained fluid, to make sure that there is no infection and that way he can catch it sooner than the person getting sick. so that eased my mind about it and I was happy to have it! :)

Thanks for the insights about the drain. It sounds like a good idea to have one, though info not look forward to it.

Hey everyone, I'm 3 weeks post op today and I'm struggling really bad with my vitamins and protein shakes. I feel so tired. My hubby is not able to come home after work because being a marine he is now in the field for a month and I'm alone dealing with 4 kids ages 7,6,2 and almost 7 months. I don't regret the surgery at all. I'm just tired and want to get my vits and shakes in. Thanks for letting me vent.

I had a drain for a week post-op . I was more annoying than anything . Good luck tomorrow !!

I am sorry that you are having a hard time! Thank you for sharing your husband with our nation that can't be easy :) the only thing I can suggest is that I keep a journal on one side of the page I put all the vitamins and check off when I take them and then on the other side I put food and water to make sure I get it all in. I write down what time I need to do them.

Thanks so much. I'm going to start writing everything. Thanks for the advice. Does your vitamins or protein gives you a bad taste?

KellyAnne, I think you will be fine taking the Pepcid when you get home.

Omg worm! I'm such a basket case the past few days too! Crying at everything on TV lol! I hope it ends soon before I go back to work Monday...I keep wondering what's wrong with me so I'm glad you shared and I'm not alone <3. I'm 2 wks post op today.

Oh thank goodness! I'm a little over a week out. I knew hormones would act up but damn so soon lol. I thought I was crazy!!

No, its been bothering me for a few days now. Stuck in a plateau, bawling my eyes out and if not crying, I'm really snappy. Driving me crazy as it's not me at all!! I'm just trying to keep eating, drinking and exercising and hoping it will pass VERY soon lol! I hear it is hormones...wow do I dread the change later in life if this is what it'll be like hahahaha!

I am a little moody myself today and feeling alot of head hunger. Too many food ads on TV and didn't sleep well so no energy for a walk right now. Just venting. Only three weeks out so I knew this would happen... Emotions driving me bonkers. Maybe a nap will help. Thanks for letting me share.
