    Friday Weigh-In!

Surgery date 11/19/12 Start weight 249 lbs Today's weight 211 lbs Total 38 But TOM is visiting this week, hoping for a good loss afterwards!
  2. Well, this will make all you November 19th surgery daters feel better....I'm only down 35.2 lbs. Ug!
  3. Did anyone's doctor tell them not to color or dye their hair? Before I had the surgery I expressed my fear of losing hair....he said not to color my hair. My hair is in dire need of some touchup!
  4. Heather. I'm so glad you mentioned this, I was getting concerned. I am too getting nauseous all the time. I have not vomited since surgery...but I do have diarrhea a lot (sorry TMI!) and sick to my stomach. My pouch is a picky little thing, I can't pin point what does it, only one I know for sure if sf pudding. I hope it passes soon...for all of us that have this problem.
  5. Still nothing from simplysouthern?? Hope everything went well!

    Surgery Wounds

I didn't have staples either. Just internal dissolvable stitches and steri-strips.
  7. I've heard that the first 3 months the weight will hang on, but after that it will release itself rather quickly. Yay! Looking forward to that!

    November Dates

Do not cancel! Believe me...I'm sure all of us thought of canceling once or twice. It is scary....but when you wake up from surgery and the days to follow that aren't as bad as you think it will be....you'll say..."yay, so glad its over!" We are all going to be so different (smaller) next year at this time, don't get left behind! You can do this!
  9. I've tried sugar free pudding twice now...and both times it made me nauseous! I had my post-op class on Friday and brought this up. They said even though it says sugar free....look at the sugar alcohol content. I never even heard to look for this. The pudding is 16% sugar alcohol....guess that's too high for my little pouch. I love pudding...bummed.
  10. I really like the Premier Protein shakes they sell at Costco or Sam's Club! And they pack 30 grams of protein.
  11. I'm able to move onto mushy foods tomorrow. I am so scared to. I don't want to get stuck, sick, bust anything....although, I'm excited to move onto something other than broth and jello! What was your first mushy food? I'm looking forward to refried beans with cheese....oh and yogurt, for some reason!

    Downtime From Band To Bypass

I went back to work 1 week after surgery. I'm mostly at a desk, but I do have to go out and walk around properties.
  13. Laughing was not fun, I had to hold my gut like Santa Claus! HA HA! I slept in my bed since day 1 of being home, just propped up 2 pillows against the headboard...my room is also upstairs, which the stairs were not a problem, just take them slowly. I also had a drain, which I pinned to my nightgown in front and let it rest on my legs. I didn't have any problems getting in and out of bed (but my beds high) just take it slow. I had more pain when I had my lapband....probably from the pulling of the port. I'm a week out and already back to work. Everyone is different with pain, luckily mine hasn't been too bad. You're going to do just fine...you'll be surprised at how much less pain you'll be in from what you are dreading and expecting!
  14. Thanks Heather. I did call my Doctor, they told me to take both pills for today when I get home. Relief... I'm such a worry wort!
  15. I had my drain from surgery date (Monday) through Saturday. As soon as the drain was out, I felt much better, I didn't have much pain to begin with, but it was just having to lug that thing around and pin it up into shirts was a bit of a drag. I asked my Doctor as to why some doctors don't use it, and some take it out before one leaves the hospital and why he leaves his in so long. He said he leaves his in longer so he can monitor the color of the drained fluid, to make sure that there is no infection and that way he can catch it sooner than the person getting sick. so that eased my mind about it and I was happy to have it!

For the folks that have already had the surgery.....Does anyone's stomach "talk"...I mean like growl and make all kinds of loud noises? Mine goes crazy! For long periods of time...

I'm now on the bench! My surgery was a little over 3 hours, due to the removal of the lapband and scar tissue. I am now sipping on my blue apple juice....and its wonderful! I'm so much better today than yesterday. I was really tired and nauseous from the pain meds. Yuck! To everyone today, best of wishes...you're gonna be just fine! It's all worth it in the end.
