Removing Lapband and Scared

Recommended Posts

I have had my lapband since 10/05, but have recently been diagnosed with anorexia. My docotor thinks it would be better for my recovery if the band comes out. Though I do not eat now anyway, I am still a little scared to be without my band. I have had quit a few problems with my band over the past year with vomiting, so my doctor feels that I have a better chance at learning to eat again without the worry of vomiting from the band. It has just been a part of my life for so long now, I feel a little strange about being without it. I am not looking forward to another surgery either.

I wish you all the luck in the world. Keep fighting the disease and don't be scared about losing the band. You need to get well. Good luck!

Wait, I don't understand. Is it anorexia or bulemia? And why don't they simply remove all the liquid? Sorry you have to lose your band either way!

My band has been empty for a long time. We did a few scopes, but did not find a problem with the band. I do not know why I vomited so much, but I got to the point where I refused to eat. I do feel like a total failure with this. It feels terrible:(

Please keep us informed. Did you take out the band already? Let us know once you take it out to see how you are doing. I hope you feel better very soon and you are not a failure...you had a lot of courage for getting the band in the first place. Courage that I can't even get to get the band in the first place.

I am confused, were you obese when you had the band placed in? How much weight did you lose to be considered anorexic? Never had I heard of a band patient who was anorexic. I wish you the best regardless. I lost my band due to erosion I have not had it for over a year now andI am doing great without it. I have notgained my weight back so it ispossible. I lost over 100lbs with mine

Do you have the psychological part of anorexia? For example do others think of you as thin but you see yourself very large. OR are you just not eating b/c you vomit alot d/t something with the band??? Good luck I think you should listen to your dr either way.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
