Where are all you baby boomers? I had surgery on 9/24...two weeks ago. Down 40 before surgery...20 after...60 total. I did lots of prep before surgery (exercise...lean green diet 3 months...immense amount of research) . So glad i did...sailed through surgery and in only 2 weeks feeling great! We baby boomers are tough. I still have 100 lbs to go but have a new lease on life...never too old to learn...look out to my grandkids...her comes a new granny...lucky if you can keep up with her!

You GO Girl. Great attitude. I became a Grandma for the first time 5 months ago, had my surgery 2.5 weeks ago. The turning point for me was wanting to play with that baby girl and wanting to live to see her grow,

I am 57 and my biggest reason for wanting to have the rny is to be healthy to enjoy my grandchildren., They are my motivation. I have been so blessed I need to be able to enjoy the blessings and make memories with them.

We really need a Healthy Granny group! I certainly want to be with them for as long as possible...but it is the QUALITY of time I am really going to enjoy...hiking with them...biking with them...just getting down on the floor with them. They are 3/5/7/9...

Hello grandmas I'm glad you guys are around. My grandma is sick. Just found out like 2 weeks ago. She's in Dominican republic from my biological dad side.

I had surgery on 5/29 at 60. 56 pounds down and around 50 to go. My grandchildren are getting a new grandma. This week finally below 200 for the first time in 30 years. I would rather spend my remaining 30-40 years in good health!

My surgery date is 12/13. Am 60 years old. My doc said it used to be unusual for folks our age to have the surgery but our numbers are growing. Right now I am at 412. Starting the three-day-protein drinks today

Hey Glen...glad to see another 60-ish person out there! I am 2 months post op...feeling absolutely incredible after losing 45 pre op and 45 post op. I am only halfway to goal but even at this point....soooo worth it! Keep on posting under 60s and i will keep checking on you.

So glad to see other tough baby boomers here! I'm 63 and am having band to rny revision on Monday. I went to the hospital this morning to have my pre-op tests done and to finish the paperwork.

Nervous and excited! I wonder how much our age factors into complications and recovery. Any ideas?

Good luck Glennr--you are just a few days after me. Vicki had her surgery yesterday. Granny, you are an inspiration and give me hope for great results--even at our age!! (don't you just love that expression...)

Thank much

My doc says the complications from age have been reduced dramatically because there has been a rash of people born in the late 40s and 50s having the surgery. My wife is more nervous than I am

Glad to find others over 60. My RNY surgery was 10/15/12. I started the process in February, 2012 at 236. Came home from the hospital at 218 and I'm 189 as of this morning.

I hope all of you are doing well too.

I hope everyone is having a lovely week so far!
It's been a bit of a struggle this last week...I'm hungry ALL the time.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
