12 Hour Shifts

Recommended Posts

Any nurses that work busy 12 hour shifts? How do you get all your Water in especially when we can't chug-a-lug? What about lunch breaks, how do you do on those? Are you able to eat at a decent pace without getting into trouble? How do you schedule your vitamins/supplements?

I am not a nurse or work 12 hour shifts but have some surggestions. I always carry the bottle of Water with me no matter where I go and sip, sip, sip, sip. I know I have to drink 4 a day to get my 64 oz. of water. The Protein I either have that as a mid morning snack or I have it as Breakfast. I don't put lots of milk, I only use about a cup full, it makes the shake thick but it is less to drink. I can usually get in down in about a 1/2 hour. I find driving in my car I can get my fluids in much easier.

I don't work right now but I would keep a glass of Water on ice on my med cart and drink between each patient. Idk if you have a med cart or not. As for the Vitamins, take them before you go to sleep. Your body absorbs them better while you are sleeping because your peristalsis is slower.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
