My Surgury Is Tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I guess this is it..! I have 24 hrs till my new life,.kinda happy kinda sad I just hope I recover well and everything goes smoothly! I need ALOT of support right now even if it's via txt. I really hope I'm making the best decision and I honestly believe I am..I deserve to be happy and not be in pain..I deserve to live a happy healthy full life! I deserve to not feel so insecure about my body that I don't even wanna go out during the day..I'm really hoping this first week is okay I know it prolly won't because I'll be in pain and sleep lol but I've got everything at I think I do im gonna need I got my myloplex powder shakes I have special k Protein Shakes both chocolate and fruity flavor, some broths (tomato and chicken) I have my sippy cups, baby spoons & bowls. I DON'T HAVE a food scale yet :/ gonna get one later when my first 2weeks are up. I have to get some mini waters too. But yea That's mostly what I have..hope I'm prepared enough for what's about to happen. These first 2 weeks is gonna be rough...is there anything else I should get? I'm still confused at what kinda Vitamines to get and if I should take them within these first few weeks or I don't have to or what? I'm TERRIFIED of loosing my hair or become malnourished in any way or something I know I ask a million questions over and over but I wanna be sure that I'm sure. (sorry its the over analyst in me lol :P )

Good luck tomorrow! You will be fine. I am 6 days post op and feeling pretty good. No pain from the surgery itself but still have some gas pain. My doctor told me for the first week to just work on getting my fluids in, not to take any Vitamins and not to worry about Protein. I have my 1 week post op appt tomorrow. He said week 2 I'll still be on liquids but I can have Protein Shakes, yogurt etc.. The first week just make sure you get enough fluids, very important. You won't be thirsty (or hungry) but you have to keep sipping, you don't want to end up back at the hospital for dehydration. All the best to you and let us know how you are doing.

What kind of fluids do u mean like Water, crystal light? And do u have head hunger since your not hungry or thirsty?

Yes, Water (although plain water gets old pretty quick). Crystal light (lemonade flavor is my favorite). sugar free ice pops and Jello are great. Decaf tea (no sugar or milk but you can use sweet n low). I ordered chicken Soup flavored Protein Powder from unjury.com, tastes pretty good and you get 21 grams of Protein per scoop. Started to get the head hunger today (day 6) but not too bad.

The first week you need to make sure your getting enough fluids in. chicken broth and sugar free Popsicles will really help. I didn't start the Protein and Vitamins until the second week. Also walk much as you can. Even if it's just a little at a time. It will relieve the gas. Laying in bed too long only makes the gas worst. Good luck I will be praying for a speedy recovery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
