Hi! Growing up I never had a weight issue. In fact, I was a top Soccer/Baseball player. After High School I enlisted in the military - still no weight problems. Then, in my mid 20's I started gaining 5-8lbs a year. All of a sudden I was 48yrs old and weighed 330lbs. Two years ago my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. It hit us like a ton of bricks. Our daughter was not yet 2.5yrs old. My wife had surgery in April 2011 and endured Chemotherapy until Oct 2011. I started thinking, with my wife's uncertain health and me weighing north of 300lbs that neither one of us might be around in 10 yrs. The thought of leaving our daughter all alone so young pushed me to go for a consult in Jan 2012. I had RNY Gastric Bypass on 8/8/2012 and have lost 106lbs so far. I feel great and have had no major complications. I have 41 lbs to go. Hopefully by mid-summer I'll be at my goal of 185lbs. My wife's health is good right now. She goes for treatment once a month and will do so for the next 3yrs. It's like living with a cloud over our heads but keeping positive thoughts. That's my story so far. All the best to everyone on this site.
