MoM doesn't work for me. You could try glycerine suppositories or a fleet enema. Not so pleasant but will usually bring relief fast! If that doesn't help call your personal care physician.

My surgeon recommends taking miralax daily.

I read in one of the cookbooks for RNY that the author took 1 vitamin E a day and that helped her. I haven't had surgery yet so just passing on info :) good luck that's a terrible feeling for sure!

This is what works for me. Last year I was having the same issue and MoM did nothing. I know my BF also recommeded Colace (softner) and most Dr. say it is none harmful and you can take it with RNY. Just check with your Dr.

I just started Colace too. Doc recommended it - 100 mg tabs taken at bedtime. The bottle says you can go up to six tabs a day, start with one and build from there if necessary.

I still am having trouble. I called the dr. He called in some lacutose. I hope it helps. Has anybody ever tried it?

My surgeon actually prescribes colace at discharge from the hospital. It says 1 a day on my bottle.

I was told twice a day with the collace. Once in the morning and once in the evening. I'm still on full liquids so not passing much.

I just can't believe how different the recommendations are by each surgeon. LOL

My Doctor recommended Mirolax in hot water and to add a little fresh lemon. It worked.

I know this may sound weird but I eat a apple and that works for me, but with the skin.

How long does it take to work??

Over night I eat one before I go to bed and by morning I have to go. I use to not be able to go for a week at a time and it hurt bad when I did go. So now I eat a some every other day.
