Well, it's obvious I'm not going to get the 40 miles, but so be it.

First fill this coming Tuesday ;)

Weight it still pretty stable, but I had what the ladies call a "non-scale victory." In March I had just moved up to a 48 waist. Today, I fit in some of my old 42 inch jeans. Hurrah!

Back on track and meeting the goals. 13 lbs gone in 23 days. Exercise game is back on too.

I bought some of those Bow Flex adjustable dumbbells. Love them. Im up at all hours of the night when the gyms closed so I figured Id try these. Assembly was not that bad. Anyone else got these?

Guys I lost my tracker but wanted to let you know that I have met and exceeded my goal of 40 miles. In fact i racked up 46.6 miles and still have 2 days before my surgery. I go in wednesday morning to finally get my band. It has been a bit of an emotional overhaul for me as I don't care to be out of control of things that are happening to me. Once i came to the conclusion that it was beyond my control I have felt at ease. So far I am down 19lbs on the liquid diet and a total of 23 since my initial consult. I really want to be down 4 more lbs so i can hit 299 before surgery. It has been ages since i was in the 2's so I hope this will happen. If not for anyting but a great motivator.

good luck gents

Way to go man ! Good luck with the surgery and hope all go's well for you. I know how you feel about being in the 200's, its been over 6 years for me and when i look at the scale and see how close I am getting it gets me even more motivated to do it ! Congrats on your 40 mile goal also ! I don't keep track of my mileage and probably should do so. I am doing between

2 - 3 miles a day unless mother nature screws me with rain. So I am sure I am right up there with yah bro ! Any way jump back in after surgery and keep us updated !

Back from my first fill! 3.8 cc in a VG band. I don't know if there's really a lot of restriction, will know in a few days. Doc wants me to lose 6 lbs a month -- I want more than that!

I don't do needles well, so I couldn't watch Doc put it in. Strangest sensation was when he pulled the needle back out.

Hey guys -- some input would be appreciated. I've been invited to a pool party being thrown by a coworker. I've recently been hanging with these folks at happy hours, and enjoy it, but I don't think I'm ready to show up in a swimsuit. I also don't want to just blow them off, as I'm just now starting to be social again and would hate to shut down that channel by accident.

Should I just plead "prior engagement," or should I suck it up and go along, ghost white beer belly and scars proudly slumping over a new swimsuit? grin.gif

There's an actual term for this phase, it's called "Bandster Hell." If you run a search with this term in the forum search function you'll see that you are not alone. It's the phase after surgery but before getting fills. You are right, it's just like doing it on your own, because without restriction you may as well not have the band.

There is no good answer. Just keep working toward getting fills and getting proper restriction. Then you will be able to start using the band. Right now it's like you don't have the band.

As for cheating, I wouldn't say to go nuts, but I think you should not feel too bad if you are not able to stick totally with the diet program. People frequently say that this phase if for "healing" not for "losing weight." Perhaps there is a middle ground that makes sense, where you can lose weight if possible, but mainly try and avoid gaining, and keep working toward getting fills and proper restriction.

Probably the most important things to keep in mind are (a) you are not alone, most people go through this, and ( don't be too hard on yourself if you don't lose a lot of weight while you are in "Bandster Hell."

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
